That maybe so but look at Celtic and see how that panned out?
I’m suggesting that the bubble can be granite tight like mine but sometimes it can be breached.
Role models and self preservation from where I’m standing.

...it is hard to maintain a bubble if you have a family with kids!!!

Either school or people they socialise with increase the potential to come into contact.

Even if all the players  resided at the new Training Ground for the rest of the season without contact from any family member, the mere fact that they are playing games will put them at risk.

Maybe doing things differently, like socially distanced celebrations, might reinforce the message to people watching that these are unique times and everyone, everywhere, needs to do their bit.

If watching James Maddison muck about with an air handshake makes just one punter keep a bit of social distance themselves, it might break an infection chain and so it's not a bad thing.

:dunno:

If they'd sacrificed the pointless hugging before and after games, I'd understand it. I don't see the need to dig out players for enjoying the best moments of the game, though.

No doubt it will descend into a good v bad debate as Sky and the BBC having started to do.

If we're happy to do the distancing when celebrating, fine. Good on us. But I'm not going to criticise those who have a brief moment of joy with their team-mates.

Having had CV and being late 40’s it wasn’t hugely pleasant.
Apart from my own and immediate family, I have barely been within 3ft of anyone in 6 months but somehow I caught it.
Footballers touching each other is unnecessary and anyone of them could’ve caught it ( like I did) after being the most anti social man in Leicestershire!
To reduce the risk, just don’t celebrate- not too hard to understand is it?

..a factor in this would be the ball itself!!!

Transmission comes in different ways in football and the main carrier could just be that round thing we are all passing to each other.

At the end of the day if they have been told to do it then they should and it has been noticed throughout the media that we were the only team to comply. I know I'm biased but I'm glad LCFC always stand for what is right. Another example being the saying no to TV charges.  Such a good team throughout every area.  Well done Leicester!

Let 'em get creative with the socially distant celebrations. I want to see Harvey Barnes leading a line dance after tw@ing one top bins.

:barnes:

Great idea. I like it

Thought this was going to be about the distanced celebration, which was immediately followed by a high five from barnes.

The enjoyment of life and being allowed to have fun is being sucked out of us piece by piece.

A killer pandemic with millions dying and millions more with long term health implications tends to have that effect...

Fun will return, dead people don't.

As per, it's yet another thing i resent being taken for an idiot by this idiot govt.

I don't  need lads 20, 25 years my junior 'setting me an example'.

I'm quite able to work out the difference between elite athletes not socially  distancing during competition (and, despite not distancing,  their risk profile is unchanged) and me popping down Tesco and deciding to give a staff member a random hug..

Still, that's not the fault of the players. Well done Madders for complying and at the same stroke, gently poking fun at the absurdity of it all

I did find it ironic the reporter asking Maddison about socially distanced celebrations when the reporter, like all of them, do a job that could be done from home.

I wish nacho did his job from home.

But you forget how many idiots there are out there that do take their cues from overpaid sheltered and often thick people that can kick a ball or sing a note well.

Spot on.

I hate this role model argument as well. These are young lads who do brasses on the weekends, some get arrested, some drink and drive, and they will occasionally take the odd illegal substance. As a parent you should be teaching your child right from wrong, not a young 20 year old footballer on 100k a week.

Could the goalscorer, player who provided the assist and another player stand in a line of three at imaginary podium's, with the one of three players shouting 'next slide please' while the other players do knee slides infront of them as a celebration please.

I think yesterday was a pisstake but in doing it it also means they can't get the finger pointed at them, which is why I think the above celebration would be a clear pisstake.

Would there not be a barber in house at the new training ground ???

No. Hair cuts aren’t allowed under government guidlines unless you live with someone that’s able to do it.

To be fair, I’m sure like a lot of people footballers and the people they live with have found out how easy it is to cut hair. Especially as a lot of the hair cuts don’t look particularly complex

Yep. My missus isn’t a hairdresser at all and she’s done me a pretty decent fade.

I’m useless at that kind of stuff normally but it took one YouTube video to be able to do a decent job at cutting hair. I feel like I’ve been being ripped off for years at barber shops 😂

It's all for image, there's no greater risk from hugging for a minute than anything else they do within the game such as training, travel etc.

Just pandering to media "outrage", really.

I do wish people would stop banging on about travelling together! It’s like the stupids moaning that if they can go to a supermarket why can’t they have granny around for dinner! It’s pretty simple MASKS!!! Have you noticed they all get off their respective coaches wearing masks.

Also when marking you both tend to face the direction of the ball, a hug involves unnecessary face to face time (literally the most effective way to share droplets - less a Birch/Currie situation). Also it’s one on one jostling at a set piece, there was basically a Wolves orgy when Silva scored yesterday - microorganism soup!

Good to see we’re being picked out for our players making a point about celebrating in a socially distanced way, but it’s a stark contrast to all the lovely fresh haircuts most of the team seem  to have had. Not sure about the rest of you but I’m on the verge of a new COVID cut as all the barbers are supposed to be closed? Is Kelechi the team barber?

You may have at least found a permanent position for Iheanacho in fairness.

All they've got to do now is cut out the spitting.

The thing with spitting is that all though it looks disgusting it’s almost a necessary evil as it’s needed to clear airways effectively when pushing your body to such limits. They aren’t just doing it pointlessly
