It was great there was a good airing of the 'I'm in love with Ricardo' song on Sunday.

I'd love us to keep him and for him to be a role model for hopefully our young vibrant squad for 2025 / 2026.

The guy oozes class

Should be club captain, when Wilf goes, surely has to be our longest serving player.

If you don't count the youth players, yes.

Hamza made his first appearance for the first team in 2017, so going by that measure, he'd be the longest-serving player after Ndidi.

His agent is saying he wants a more ambitious challenge so is looking to leave the club. 😢

Nnnoooooo.....

But it could one of two things:

1- his agent is looking for a payday and a higher salary for his client as he's taking a pay cut

Or

2 - this is just true, which I can believe. He's given us the best part of his career, but his injuries have held him back.

Sad if true though. He's the only one that carries himself with dignity, all the time.

Another high earner off our books and some fee to recoup as well. A massive hole will be left though. We're really starting again, and I really have doubts on how well we'll do with what's left

A fit Ricardo would rip the Championship apart.

You would imagine with his injury record there won’t be many buyers.

A quality player, who seemed to care about the badge but, if there is a buyer then would expect the Club takes the cash and bets they can replace him.

Doubt we'll get offered much but happy with whatever.  We have enough rightbacks.  Riccy only has a year left. And while I think he'd probably be best at DM now, we'd be losing him in a year anyway and might as well address it now.

If he can't find a move we benefit in the short term as he's a level above when he's fit.  If he does leave, we benefit in the longer term if we get a little bit of cash.

Saying that we'll probably agree to release him for nowt.

Meh. Love Ricky and when fit he’s still an excellent player, but we need to cut our cloth and having a liability injury-wise on £50k+ a week isn’t the smartest idea.

Shame other poor players who couldn’t care less will still be here if/when he goes though. Players who earn a similar wage… state of a club aren’t we.

Don’t begrudge him leaving.

However will be a huge loss.

Leeds away in the Championship he absolutely ran that game even though we conspired to lose it.

Would be the best player in the Championship for me next season if he stays.

Just maybe if there was some clarity on who will be leading the team next season some of our better players might not be so twitchy.

Love Ricardo though, a classy and dignified player.

If anyone is willing to risk him on the same wages he's on here I'll be amazed. If so, he can go. Appreciate what he's done while he's actually been fit but we've seen enough players who don't want to really be here in the last few years.

Don't really get what his agent achieves by disrespecting the club and the fans with this either. He isn't going to get a new, improved contract. If he wants to go then sort it through the usual channels. Almost as bad as Kasper's Dad telling the world he wanted out of the club that made him.

I've always rated him highly but also understand the practical side his age, wages, and our long-term needs. Genuinely brilliant footballer and a really likeable guy — something you can’t say about everyone in the squad. When he's fit he's head and shoulders above Championship level and if he goes he'll be missed. Probably still got a good few years left at a decent level - best years are behind him now though and he's probably on a big wedge which we realistically need to get off the books. Can't sugarcoat the situation but good luck to him whatever he does.
