Popular Post inckley fox Posted 21 April Popular Post Posted 21 April I heard the interview, and just learned that I can add his character deficits to the huge list of others' which were key to our downfall. He was utterly unaware of the gravity of the situation, of the role of a captain at a time like this, and of the need for him - as a spokesperson for those responsible - to hold his hands up and clearly, sincerely assume that responsibility. It's this obliviousness and detachment from reality which has characterised our decline. So yes, he gave us a nice season-and-a-half before injury decimated his career, and was very decent when we first came back up, but over the course of his eight year stay (bearing in mind he missed the FA Cup) he'll be remembered as much for the three relegations and captaining the worst ever City side as he will for being a worthy successor to Danny Simpson. And, based on that interview, he probably doesn't deserve a great deal more than that. 6
OntarioFox Posted 21 April Posted 21 April (edited) Sadly sums up the last ten years of LCFC - a "nice guy" who has somehow stuck around long enough to be expected to lead a group of absolute charlatans into battle. I think that's his legacy well and truly tarnished - sorry Ricky, I used to love you, but the last four years have finished that. You're not "FA Cup Winner" Ricardo, you're "Relegated to League One as club captain" Ricardo. Piss off with the rest of them. Edited 21 April by OntarioFox 1

Us going down is not on him by any stretch. you got to be on a wind up, has been confortable our worst defender this season all our opponents target our right side because he is a liability and we concede most of our goals down his side. Should have been dropped from matchday squad before Xmas but both our cowardly managers this season were too weak to do it.
EastAnglianFox Posted 21 April Posted 21 April I said he’d be a cheat code at this level at the start of the season
RoboFox Posted 21 April Posted 21 April (edited) A legend of the club and a super nice guy but I wish he'd have gone two seasons ago. Injuries have completely taken their toll and it's a shame he's a part of this catastrophe. BUT he is as responsible as any of the players and it tarnishes his legacy here somewhat. HankMarvin Posted 21 April Posted 21 April (edited) Too many “nice guys” maybe if we had a few more bastards the levels would not been allowed to drop to this. How did Ricardo get them in line?, By banning them from a game of Uno on the coach? Edited 22 April by HankMarvin 2
PhillippaT Posted 21 April Posted 21 April He stayed beyond his use-by date unfortunately. Can't blame him for that though.

Think he stayed as no one wanted him, in 2020 he was one of most wanted right backs in europe....now he'd be lucky to find a championship club. 1
Arkie Bennett Posted 21 April Posted 21 April Whatever the opposite of "icing on the cake" is in this situation, that interview was it. He managed to say plenty of words yet nothing of meaning or significance. I don't expect Shakespeare or Churchill, but he must have known he would be expected to say something commensurate with being the leader and should have had at least something prepared. Great player before his injury, but nowhere near captaincy material. Another example of the problems that beset the club. 1

Lesta Legend Posted 21 April Posted 21 April The fact Louis page (& Hamza) came out and faced the fans says it all. We have no real leaders and a a teenager fronts up. Page and our youngsters should be who we now build a team around. 4

Jaspa Posted 21 April Posted 21 April Great player, great professional, decent bloke. Legs seem to have gone, not sure he's a proper leader. In his pomp he was genuinely world class. We just need to move on from all of this now and draw a line under it. 2
em9999 Posted 21 April Posted 21 April The way hes just been verbally abused im sure he won't wanna come back 1

Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 21 April Posted 21 April Ah, nice guy Ricardo didn’t talk to the fans - he’s a shit man - worst captain ever. Paddy McCarthy ranks higher
coolhandfox Posted 21 April Posted 21 April I heard hes still trying to find the left winger who skinned him an hour after full time. A terrible season performance wise to finish his lcfc career. Shame as in 2019/20 he was genuinely in the conversation to be one of the best RB in the PL before being broken.
