Stylistically he is far more like Pirlo than Fernandinho. The game is played at the pace he dictates.

He isn't at Pirlo's level, mainly because he still tends to throw in some sloppy passes and moments in amongst the sublime, but his awareness, composure and game intelligence is top level.

The thing with Pirlo though is that he played in Serie A which has a lot slower tempo than the Premier League, meaning Youri is playing the same style but a lot quicker than Pirlo, who had more time on the ball to dictate play.

True, but Pirlo was still very very good in tight spaces. He always knew what was happening around him way before he received the ball, and he could throw any pressure with a simple body swerve. Just an absolute metronome.

I had to miss the first half, so you can all thank me. Hearing that BR was not pleased makes me think that he is absolutely determined to prevent a repeat of last year, and I expect a target has been set, especially regarding these next 3 games.

Top 4 is a must - not because otherwise is failure or a bottle job, but because of the domino effect it would likely start.

Good result but we shouldn’t get carried away because wba were awful, especially in that first half.

I know you can only play whats in front of you but we’ll get sterner tests

Fofana is so good, evans is like a rolls Royce at the back. Ndidi has hugely improved his touch over the last 12 months. Tielemans oozes class.. so calm on the ball and finds a team mate with a pass every time..

looking forward to next 3 games.. all very winnable and if we do we will be at least 4 clear of 4th with 3 to play, including Chelsea

Always like Big Sam :D

More from Sam Allardyce: "You can see why Leicester are where they are in the league, and why they are in the cup final. We couldn't cope with them.

"We tried to get forwards when we had the ball but we were a long long way off where we have been. Leicester are a lot better than Southampton and far better than Chelsea - they are as good as the top boys. They are only behind Man City on that performance.

Big Sam knows!

Sensational accuracy and weight of the pass.

There's 3 players to guide it between and he absolutely nails it.

Not the first time either - the one against Brighton too. Superb.

Totally fair. The Italian leagues teach you how to shimmy a lot. When Cambiasso did it for us it was exquisite.

WH and Chelsea play each other next, right? So we'd be at least 6 clear. If Chelsea win then it'd be 7. We still have to win them though and have the hardest run out to the end of the season. It's entirely in our hands but I'm glad BR is taking no prisoners.

I watched all of those games and they didn't leave huuuuuge gaps at the back in any of those games lol

As soon as they shut up shop we didn't score again

...we stepped off the gas and started to overplay!!!

We have a bad habit when we are well on top to start overplaying, passing with the outside of the boot and not playing the simple passes as the opposition is in disarray. I suspect this was the reason Rogers was so upset on the side lines. I have previously mentioned their tendency to lose focus and become self indulgent and we need to eradicate this from our game and Rodgers seems to have picked up on this and hopefully will put a stop to.

We need to be ruthless and professional, we probably haven't the players to incorporate this mindset and until we do we are not going to make the next step up.

Yeah they play each other on Saturday. A draw would be ideal but either way at least one of them is going to drop points then it's down to us to do the biz against Palace on Monday.

Savage was nothing like Vardy. If we had a Vardy in those days (imho we didn’t) it would have been Steve Claridge. Savage was a bit-part player.

Thats Why he did his "bit"...

I wont go tit-for-tat on this....I Really Dont care who was better...

before Vardy...Savage was loved by city fans, because he was a wind up merchant...at The Time  Lennon..Savage..Izzet had quite a few games together & he wasnt a bit Part player at that time..

My Reply was actually just light-hearted..

MON to Gerry Taggart, After CBs & Savage nearly fked it up...!!!

He says 'Gerry pal, what have I f****** told you? How long have you been with me now? You can give the ball to Lenny (Neil Lennon), You can give the ball to Muzzy (Izzet), but don't give it to f****** Savage, you know he can't play football...

Funny thing......MON selected  him nearly all the time, Savage played in the winning Cup finals, und stayed like Izzet After MON had gone..!!

For me, there is only De Bruyne that is better than Tielemans but you could argue they play different positions as De Bruyne plays further forward. Alot of Tielemans work does go unnoticed as he doesn't get that many assists but he gets lots of pre assists (which isn't even a thing i know) like the vardy goal here. He is the player we really need to tie down to a long contract, he is an  absolute Rolls Royce. A midfield 3 of peak Ndidi, Tielemans and Maddison is utterly disgusting so long as we can keep Maddison fit. We are a striker, a winger and a back up cb away from having an unbelievable squad if we keep everyone fit.
