If we had to pinpoint a match, I'd say that heavy defeat at home to Liverpool when we were 2nd. I think Rodgers didn't like what he saw, and this changed our approach, if not immediately, then over time.

This.

Totally lost himself over those two games -  Liverpool & Man City and never regained the requisite mentality: he became fearful.

are we too soft as fans? are we not putting enough pressure on? because there’s no way a big club lets this go on without the pressure being too high to allow it

I think what you’re calling for is a protest or march if he’s still there the day of the Forest game

No informed source has said he’s staying, and based on themightyfin’s previous sources, I’m not convinced about the one person holding out on firing him theory.

The only thing we can be fairly confident in is there is a board meeting to discuss his future as that came from Romano.

The Queen dying has nothing to do with this situation. Get him out the door today! I hope they are negotiating right now severance.

...was it not a few weeks ago someone claimed a meeting was about to take place, when at the end Rodgers was to be dismissed!!!

Tuchel was then sacked by Chelsea and Potters name came up as a replacement. Surely had that meeting taken place a decision would have been taken and any subsequent meetings are a rubber stamping process.

If Romanos' comments are correct then it should only take 10 minutes to rubber stamp the decision. If Top is the hold out, then I would believe he requires more persuasion,  and if after all this time and results he needs to either recuse himself, or detach from any personal attachment to Rodgers, in order for the Board to make a decision.

Is Romano believable? Or would he just be making some kind of informed guess?

Believable for sure, first to say we were signing Wout Faes and Soumare, and were in for Boga.

They’re giving him the next run of games I think

This could be correct. Of course, the other reason could be that they have approached certain people who they would like, and all have declined leaving them with two options. Sack him with no replacement or stick with him and hope.

I think it's Whelan someone mentioned her and Rodgers being  close.

These are all successful business people. Being overly loyal without foundation or not making the right decision because you are 'close' gets you into heaps of trouble.

I'm starting to feel the real reason is that the owners are in serious doubts about how to do anything right now, and if they fire him have no idea on how to hire a replacement. If the club had PL survival ambitions, this would have been done immediately after the Brighton game.

I think the damage is done. This is Mclintock level stuff.

We aren't losing games. We are being humiliated every single week. Even Taylor managed to largely keep scorelines down, Bolton apart. A new manager will have done well to reduce the goals against to 1 or 2 a game, let alone start to win points.

Arsenal, Brighton and Spurs could all easily have scored 10 each. Man Utd played at around 20% and won at a canter. An absolutely honking Southampton side scored at will the.moment they stepped up a gear.

This is hands down the worst organised, worst set up, tactically non existent team we may ever have fielded. That includes Mclintock, Taylor and Holloway.

And what does he do every week at the end? High fives, face cuddles and hugs with all  the players. Can anyone imagine Tuchel, Conte, Mourinho et al or even Steve Bruce congratulating his players every week after being bummed?

So eloquently put 😂 but can’t disagree with any of it!

7pts from safety with 8 games to go - stayed up

3pts from safety with 31 games to go - as good as down no matter what happens

In our current predicament a win is coming from nowhere.

The really frustrating thing is that both Brighton and Spurs were not 7 goals better than us. The difference was the coaching, tactics and mentality. All failings from the management team.

It’s obviously true, the level of hysteria in here is high, no doubt. However, we should look at the direction of travel over the last 18 months to 2 years and be mighty concerned.

Personally. do not care about what he says and it genuinely baffles me when people get bent out of shape about what he says, he is not a sincere man, he is not a priest or under oath, he has considerable hubris, so I would suggest basing any judgement on what he says is madness anyway.

But, he has us heading in a very bad direction and had been for far too long, so he should go in my,opinion.

It's a fair point, but that 14-15 squad had more character and bottle in their little toe than this one does.

Besides, they'd actually won a game before the slump. Our only win was a technicality and it came against a League Two side.
