Dean Smith’s long term assistant at Villa leaving two days before the season isn’t a great omen

As well as John Terry?

Isn't his record in big games absolutely stinking? Shite signing for me that

He's dangerous but unreliably so. He missed an absolute sitter from 2 yards for Belgium in the euros.. it just seemed.like same old lukaku

I am now so excited for tomo. Hopefully a Brentford win tonight to start off and then set a marker down with a win against a wolves side I think will be pushing for Europe again this year.

The money being spent is insane atm. Man City going to bid 150m for Kane after signing Grealish for 100m, Chelsea purchasing Lukaku for 97.5m, Arsenal spending 50m on a single CB, United buying Sancho for 76.5m, it's mental that we're still competing with these clubs for 4th spot.

Just going off his most recent performances in the Euros I'm not overly terrified of Lukaku setting the league on fire like media pundits have said. Chelsea probably missed the highest tally of sitters last season thanks to the German flop they keep relying on. You have to bet that Lukaku would atleast bag half of those kinds of chances (if) Chelski continue to the create which they probably will. Is he worth 98 mill? No but Chelski won't complain if he starts converting their chances atleast the bloody easy ones! I'm more concerned about our Jamie not converting his chances. We really could use his goals so I hope his sharpness in front of goal returns quickly this season.

Lukaku will bag 20+ this season mark my words, his move to Inter has made him one of the best strikers in the world, he’s the main reason why I think Chelsea win the league, he’s the missing piece for them

He’s not at all. You just have to play his way.

When Man U were trying to get rid I asked on here who would actually take him... I don’t think a single person said yes.

He is a top 10 striker in the world and if they can get him firing the league is in trouble.

a better signing than Grealish imo

If we ever had to play that way again, the thought of Lukaku getting on the end of crosses from Bertrand and Albrighton would be dreamland. People on here are not wrong in saying he would not fit our current system, but today's Lukaku played like 2014-15 Ulloa? Lad scores 25 goals a season, easy.

When he's on it he's an absolute bulldozer. Can't think of anyone in the modern game better at bullying defences at the top level. Considering we have always struggled against poundshop versions like Rondon, can't say I'm looking forward to facing him one bit.

He's probably the only striker that would make Huth, Wes & Wasilewski fight over who has to mark him. Bulldozer is absolutely right

Honestly, I'll be more surprised if Brentford lose tonight than win, especially given the fact that Arsenal are missing so many key players like Aubameyang, Lacazette, Gabriel, Partey, and Nketiah.

I'm not sure Aubameyang and Lacazette are quite the losses they appear - Partey has been distinctly average since signing too.

Brentford won't beat Arsenal. They'll be too open as they will be all season, similar to Norwich.

That's my prediction. Excited to see how Tony steps up though.
