Ric Flair Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 I think they'll get Conte annoyingly, it won't be a long term gig but he will likely make them better in the time he is here which is another obstacle for us.

I reckon he’s waited realised 4th isn’t gonna be that difficult and gone for it. Still can't imagine it. Unless he's getting literally no positive noises from Old Trafford, taking the Spurs job now when Ole is dangling by a thread would be daft. Not to mention Juve still floundering, Pep eyeing the door, etc. He left Inter because he wanted the sort of war chest you build a legacy with. Why rock up at a club with Barcelona's debt but Bilbao's prestige? 1
turlo Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Conte was holding out for the Yanited job but sounds like their board want Ole to stay. Can't see Conte and Levi getting on for long at Spurs but will probably get them top 4 and then kick off about lack of backing
ealingfox Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Just no consequences for failure and poor management at these clubs any more is there? Just dig in to the bottomless pit of money again and sort it out. Its sickening.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Conte with United's board would never have worked, he's got people he's already worked with at Juve and a desperate Levy so he'll free reign something he'd never have got at united
Md9 Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 They thought they would win trophies when mourinho took over and look how that turned out. Their team is still rubbish and not sure conte would get much more out of them especially if Kane is going to sulk for the rest of the season

He's gone in there knowing full well he was about 8th choice, given it his best despite having a shite squad and his best player publicly throwing a strop in the summer. He'll go back to getting a mid-table club again and he'll be better for it. 3

Daggers Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 "Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says he wasn’t ‘convinced’ by the project sold to him by Tottenham’s board during talks to become the club’s next manager." Precisely what has changed at Spurs to make them seem less Spursy since the summer? Conte isn't going to take the job on. They couldn't convince any of their top candidates to take on the job with a transfer window in the offing, can't see anyone decent being wowed at the prospect now.

Levy fvcked it and now has made Nuno the scapegoat.

Kane staying and Levy having to give him he wants. Levy knows he needs to sort this one. It'll happen I think.
Md9 Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Surely they will be in big trouble as well if they go all out spending in jan and get no champs league again
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Conte and Levy. Light touch paper and retire... Looking forward to it. 😂 1
Popular Post urban.spaceman Posted 1 November 2021 Popular Post Posted 1 November 2021 From manager of the month to being sacked a month later. That's not in the Espírito of the game. 6

ealingfox Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 War chest has to be the most annoying non-football term used in football.
peach0000 Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Pretty irrelevant but I really wish the FA would go all out for Conte. He's the manager whose system fits Englands players the most. He could be really successful. I don't see him going to spurs but then again I didn't see it with Mourinho either. One things for sure is Conte is a proper elite manager. 1
lcfc_forever Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Romano is saying the deal is pretty much done, just final details to be sorted. Like @StriderHiryusuggests, an even bigger salary will have helped but I think Levy has surely promised Conte that Spurs will spend big in January, and in the summer. No way he joins Spurs without that commitment. 2
Matt_Lcfc Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 It’s annoying because Conte is a winner but so was Mourinho. There is a bigger problem with that club and I don’t think even a world-class manager will be able to stop that.
RowlattsFox Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 Conte has a great record but I do think he's got a failure in him, no better place than Spurs for that Annoying again when a club can just through a cheque book at the problem but that's football in this country.
filbertway Posted 1 November 2021 Posted 1 November 2021 They said the new manager will play free flowing attacking football. Not sure Conte fits that bill
