Man Utd 1-2 LCFC - Post Match Thread

Hmm - I always thought I was a pint glass half-empty bloke, yet, on this forum, there are those who make me resemble an American gameshow host.

I didn't see a second-string team fielded by United - they were a mix of fast, agile and experienced (and expensive) players. Then Cavani & Co. came on and were contained.

Two magnificent goals and who really cares that one was from a "set piece"? Do you actually know the success rate of corners? It's extremely low.

You might be delighted with a win, but the curmudgeonly nature of your response to the team you purport to support - young men who've battled against setbacks all season, and have reached a Cup Final and, potentially, a CL place - is astonishingly negative.

Words have now failed me.

Tomorrow I'll pick up a decent daily paper and read a neutral, informed take on the game. It will be a salve to the ire you Eeyores generate in me.

It might mention the wholesale changes Sjolskaer made and the absence of the 'big four', but it will applaud the brilliance of Luke Thomas and the determination of Caglar Soyuncu. It will laud N'Didi, Fofana and Tielemans for their skill and Albrighton for his persistence and ingenuity. Iheanacho's fine holding and release of the ball should get a mention, as should Vardy's usual hugely intelligent movement.

I visit this forum to find those who share a love of Leicester City and it's players and yet, so often, I encounter the niggardly and the miserly. And the thing is, it don't get much better than this. These are the best of times. I'm sorry you cannot appreciate that.

Thank you for questioning my support. I've seen, in the very recent past, this team dispatch "big 6" teams with swashbuckling football and earn great praise from pundits and fans.

Last night wasn't one of those performances, if it makes me less of a fan because I can see beyond a result and fear these performances might not get us over the line, then I guess I'm best just finding the result in the morning papers. On the flip side, I'm not on here calling for half the squad to be sold off after losing to Newcastle.

Like I said, the result is all that matters. Will we get 2 or 3 more like that with similar performances? Unlikely, but I'd take it and be over the moon.

Liverpool fans kicking off about the strength of

Man U’s team.

Ultimate karma for the way Klopp refused to

turn up for a cup tie and sent out the Under 23s.

Because of course they'd have been really upset if he'd payed full strength against us and kids against them. He didn't have a great deal of choice lets face it with another game tomorrow.

Hate to admit it but Chris Sutton is a really good commentator. Think he’s a bellend for his past comments but he’s much better then most of the clowns on sky/bt.

Far better commentator than a pundit as he doesn't try and be a WUM all the time.

The issue is that the game was rescheduled because of the behaviour of yanited’s fans

the team are the ones with the squeezed schedule yet because of their league position being safe in the top four, they haven’t suffered. Liverpool who bear no blame for the Man U fans protesting (well they do actually but that’s a different story) could be the ones that suffer the most. West Ham should be the most aggrieved

The game was rescheduled because of the behaviour of Yanited's owners.

They could have played the game that day still, it's only because there was another game later they didn't. So blame Sky.

Sjolskaer - " they got a goal from a corner that wasn't a corner" - what a piss poor excuse for losing! What a piss poor excuse for a manager.

Fair comment but your last sentence....

I was thinking it might be time he got some credit? 2nd best team in the league by some distance by the end.

Maybe he is a proper manager that needed time? I know they've obviously spent a fortune but I distinctly remember agreement that his squad ain't no man u of old.

Guess we'll find out next season but I'm starting to question this narrative, as much as it hurts.

Luke Thomas confirmed this in his post match interview.

It was clear to me because all of a sudden we had 2 players out wide and loads more options.

Soyuncu was spraying the ball lovely to both wings whereas the 3 at the back there’s isn’t that option.

The first half we had 2 maybe 3 shots, 1 on target but second half we looked so much better especially going forward.

It also showed me Fofana and Cags can play together no problems. They’ll make mistakes but most of the time they will be rapid and solid.

I was saying this to my mates. If I was a Liverpool fan I was be well unhappy at what has unfolded.

Apparently there is a Prem league rule which awards Liverpool 3pts due to Man U’s fans forcing the game to be postponed but Liverpool haven’t appealed the rescheduling.

That can’t be right because surely I would have seen something about this and Liverpool would be mental not to go for the 3 Pts!

People.  These are the good times even if we had to sweat those last ten minutes.  Next year gonna be harder to make Top 4 and FA Cup realistically... VVD back for Liverpool, Chelsea have a decent manager etc ... so let’s try and enjoy it, huh?))

That's been said every year but at least 2 of 'archaic' big 6 have poor seasons. I don't think next year will be any different. I think arsenal and spurs will struggle again at least.

I think Chelsea and Man City look good. Liverpool will likely sort their issues but Man U the jury is still out; they have needed a lot of comebacks, whether they can maintain that luck I don’t know. Just think Ole is a weak manager. Spurs and arsenal have deep problems and will take more than a summer to sort out. We should get ahead of West Ham and Everton by securing CL football, meaning players are likely to sign for us.

Disagree. I thought we played well tonight, we managed the game well particularly after the second.

We looked good at the back and kept them to only Fernandes screwed shot wide as their only chance in the second half.

We looked more positive on the ball and drove forward with it when the opportunity arose. Much better than the last few games.

I genuinely think we're nackered, the lads have just got to dig in now for one more week and find that inner energy to finish on a high. Tonight's performance reminded me of our league win season, a game we simply managed, not quality or decisive, but just enough to get the job done.

Bring on the final!!!!:bounce:

good post, I thought we was the better team overall in the end.
