I'd like us to win, don't get me wrong, but I'm incredibly negative because of basically every tournament since 1986.

Cried enough tears over England, not doing it again.

And I firmly believe we have the wrong man in charge. Nothing will change my mind about that.

He’s just overly cautious and it eventually catches you out.

I do have to say that @Facecloth’s comment before the first game about Raheem Sterling being ‘a poor player’ is an absolute classic.

Beautiful

Not even winning the tournament?

If that's the case, I do have to wonder about rather unrealistic expectations regarding the England manager here.

I guess Sterling isn’t sh*t afterall

Nope, he's still poor. He's basically doing Kanes job being alive in the box, but outside the box, a lot of his general play is hideous.

Group of death lol are you sure… tonight shown real grit real contenders, beautiful to watch

So much with the “winners are coming from Group F”. They’ve all been binned off in the round of 16.

Humble pie all round and it was painful to watch at times but hey we've played some great football over the years without winning anything so if Southgate has found the winning formula then fair play to him!

Love how annoyed people get about people getting carried away. So what? It's football and the whole point is to enjoy the ride.

We are looking at a great opportunity but so are Denmark, Czech Rep and the winner of tonight's game. They'll fancy it too.

So I actually said he has good movement, which is true and he's basically doing Kanes job by being alive in the box. His general play is still hideous at times though. He's still running down blind alleys, still giving the ball away easily or not moving it on quick enough.

No, not even winning the tournament.

I genuinely believe with a different, more expansive, technically aware coach, we could be the best in the world with the talent we have.

Southgate will not take us to that level. Ever.

We contain them well, low I think is gone to be honest… it is a great victory tonight, and believe it or not the first we have had in 90 minutes at the euros! big step forward, young side and we are producing players now

Absolutely, a massive win. I for one am very impressed with what Southgate managed to achieve. I understand the sceptics and I would love to see the more attacking side starting but even with the current set up which many on here say is boring it's still a very bright day compared to night when Woy was in charge, at least IMHO.

As for Germany I think we just saw the last of Jogi 'booger eater' Low, apparently they already have Flick (recent Bayern manager) lined up for the job

,Glad we beat Germany. Probably give the players some belief but just hope we go out and attack or drive with the ball more. The game changed when Grealish came on. Southgate needs to be more offensive at times but 0 goals conceded. Can't argue with that.

However, probably the worst Germany side I've ever witnessed though. They were atrocious.

The fact is we still have Justin, maddison and Barnes to add to this young side

Fair enough.

I think that's unrealistic expectations of both the manager at the present time and the potential of this team, but I guess that time is the only way either of us are going to be sure.

I'm seeing Gary Neville praising Southgate again.

Would love to know if Gary would still have the same opinion if Gareth was named Man Utd manager.

He wouldn't.

Why are you still slagging him after this ****ing enjoy it Jesus Christ
