I hope he stays and leads us to the finals of the Champions League in two years.  Then purposely scores an own goal, and runs around the LC supporters end giving everyone the finger, while laughing his butt off.

I'm not entirely convinced that he wouldn't struggle to score an OG.

The Perez of 19/20 is a good squad member.

Like many of the squad he has had to deal with starting the season injured, and no pre season.

Maybe with a good preseason we could see the 19/20 versions again.

I do think he's a good player but I'd take the money if offered. Simply because his lack of pace is the reason I suspect Brendan won't play him.

We already have Maddison who is better on the Ball but also lacks pace. So we don't need two.

We're now moving into the top 4 territory with the signings we've made and pace and movement are a real requirement.

Probably a good idea to have a thread where everyone who hates our own players can spew into, so the rest of us don’t have to read it on almost every other page on this forum...

Nice idea!

Unfortunately you could start a thread about - I don’t know, Canadian heatwaves, growing carrots or Beatles albums and within seconds someone would be along to blame Perez for climate change and carrot root fly, and saying it was him who killed Paul McCartney in 1968.

Wouldn’t matter if there were a dozen ‘I have bizarrely decided that Perez is the worst player ever and I’m going to blame him for all the things that are wrong with the club even though he’s clearly not the worst player ever and there’s actually -amazingly - nothing wrong with our club’ threads. Some people would still turn every thread into a Perez pile-on.

(Oh, and no, this doesn’t mean I think he’s great. As I and a few others have said many times, he’s neither as bad as some on here say nor good enough for where we want to be.)

If we had the top player in the world in every position, one of them would still be hated after a mistake.

Check out the Middlesbrough away match thread from the promotion season. 5minutes after the squad was announced Pearson was shite for picking Drinky and Vards. We had not even kicked off the season let alone the match.

I can't think of any scenario where he's still on the roster and healthy where Brendan won't play him.

If we are following previous years of selling a first teamer then I would have absolutely no issue with it being him over any of the others.  Saying that though if he is happy to be a squad player then great I just don't want his name on the starters list 😁

I do get frustrated with people quoting the £30 million as that is not his fault whatsoever!

So the fee is his fault and warrants the hate and abuse he gets?

Who said that? The fee will never help. I also said he's not good enough for our level. And no that's not his fault either as with slim and Silva. But people will slag the player off as they won't slag the club off.

Not sure why you've rounded up on my post I've not abused him or slaged him off. I've given my honest opinion or is that not allowed.

So just more of the same. Whatever.

Playmaker actually implies he can get his head up and make a pass rather than seeing the pass, second guess himself then easily get dispossessed after holding onto the ball for too long. He has no value in a squad competing for top 4 and the europa league.

I agree..... going forward. But last year he earn't us invaluable goals and points. But you could say the opposite in that the lack of creative play in that area cost us top 4.

In any case where we finished we couldn't have done it without him and teams like west ham finished too close for comfort, but at the same time I think he needs to move on, but ONLY with a replacement RW.

If I told you I'd shagged the queen it would have the same amount of truth in it.

With that statement I'd have to say that I beleive that you've shagged the queen. And her corgis too.

Apparently he's a known carrot root fly spreader and blows hot and cold so perhaps there's some truth in the climate change allegations too? Bad egg all round if you ask me. Organises cracking parties though in fairness I heard.

Same point as made in the maddison thread. Why go away late in the summer break knowing you’d have to quarantine and be late back for pre season

Because he and Maddison clearly do what they like, as was proven last season before West Ham.
