The Müller yoghurt curse continues. First Dina, and now KJT.

I can't see Nicole Scherzinger getting a gold either.

Thoughts on this https://metro.co.uk/2021/08/04/olympics-team-gb-boxer-refuses-to-wear-silver-medal-and-sulks-on-podium-15035088/

Normally I would sympathise, but with the way he’s been an arrogant cocky knobhead in interviews, his cockiness has come back to bite him and he can’t take it.

Yep.

Comes across as hes already thinking hes a world champ.

Always goes on about being the Mayor of Wolverhampton

.

Anyone been to Wolverhampton??? I wouldn't ever admit to coming from there let alone want to be the Mayor.

Glad he lost tte final. Cock

Should take a leaf out of the super heavyweight who lost due to a proper bad cut Fraser Clarke. He IS a top man.

Bellend. He's just role-playing at being a modern boxer, getting his act together for a professional career that'll go nowhere.

I hate all pantomime villain shit in boxing, just twat each other and get on with it.

The Sapporo athletics events started today - the walking races and the marathons, moved north from Tokyo because of worries about the heat. Not exactly cool up here - temperatures have been over 30 degrees every day for the last two weeks, which is pretty freakish.

I went to have a look at the men's 20km walk this evening, hoping Tom Bosworth might do something. The poor lad has been stuck in a Sapporo hotel all week, tweeting about the awful food ('slop and cold pasta') and saying he feels like he's in prison.

This was the GB feeding station just before the race: they could recognize a fellow Brit even though I was behind a mask and a huge brimmed hat.

Next shot is the scene right at the start of the race. You can see Yamanishi of Japan just in the lead, and if you look closely you can just see Massimo Stano, the Italian who won the race (Yamanishi got the bronze). Sadly Tom Bosworth and the other Brit Callum Wilkinson were way back.

Walk-2.jpg

In the background you can see one of the riot police's buses that were everywhere today. I remember seeing them at the 2002 World Cup when they were terrified of 10,000 England fans descending on the city. The Japanese had seen those famous Euro 2000 shots of England fans hurling plastic chairs in Charleroi, and so as a precaution, locals were banned from bringing a bicycle into the centre of Sapporo for the duration of the tournament. They thought England fans would pick up anything that wasn't nailed down and chuck it around.

Stano, the Italian who won the race, would have felt at home with the riot police buses. His club is Fiamme Oro, the sports club of the Italian state police.

There's more walking races tomorrow, then the women's marathon and the men's marathon at the weekend.  The marathon runners will be exposed to much more direct sunlight than the walkers, with the course ranging over a much bigger area of the city (the walking races are right in the centre, repeatedly round a 1km course, and the buildings block the sunlight). So there's still worries about the heat.

One thing I did notice today was that none of the walkers had the distinctive swing of Ken Matthews, the Brummy gold medalist from the Tokyo 1964 Olympics, who you can see in this great little video:

That was Jeckyll & Hyde stuff in the Women's Football bronze game. Some atrocious goalkeeping and schoolboy defending mixed with superb pressing and great strikes as well. Rather confusing watch to be honest.

How on earth has Alex Scott got the job presenting the highlights show for the BBC ?

She’s awful, no knowledge of most of the sports and totally out of her depth.

Knows her Football as expected but get the impression she doesn't do the homework for this, so have to agree & has dragged Clare down somewhat.

I've had a great time as on holidays for two weeks and as the weather hasn't been brilliant filled the gap with the Olympics.

For me Dan Walker, Hazel Irvine, Gabby Yorath and Jason Mohammed (My friend!) have proved what consummate professionals they are.  Rishi Persad has been great on the road too.

Still some great stuff over these 2 weeks & different sports to get into, Taekwondo, BMX etc.

Just watched the skateboarding which I know 0 about and some Aussie called Keegan won.

My point though is the camaraderie  between  all them skateboarders is brilliant.

Look like they all have so much respect and love for each other.

 Great to see
