Arsenal are so far away from the top six you can barely see them. Definition of the term bobbins. But the only way they're going to be not bobbins is to sign players like Maddison. I think they've got a great talent in Lokonga, but really messed up paying that much for White. They've got the right idea with Maddison though. It's the type of player they should be trying to attract. Young, hip, fashionable and not at one of the elite clubs or playing champions league.

Well why ask about where a player will fit in to a system then? We might play one system one game one the next, one in one game and change mid game, you need options which is why Soumare was brought in. Is he going to play every game? Probably not. Its like saying where will Daka play we have Vardy and Kelechi. We need options. 1

It looks to me like Vardy will transition to being a super sub or play in certain games and then Daka will become the main man but not straight the way and we may well have to suffer that period where Vardy isn't performing and there's then growing pressure for Daka to start, I just hope if and when that happens they Rodgers makes the right decision. It would be foolish to write Vardy off yet but it's just as much down to him to prove some doubters wrong as it is Daka force Rodgers to start him. Daka takes away the need for Vardy to play 3 games a week when we are in Europe or have a midweek game. He played 42 games last season and had to come back from injury in when he should have time to recover and get fit. Vardy is going to start first choice, he deserve that, the it's up to Daka to put him under pressure with goals and performances, I think Vardy thrives on a challenge and Daka arrival could bring him a new lease of life. It a game changer to have a player like Vardy or Daka to come on for the last 30 minutes of a game for me. 1

Because there's obviously always going to be a 'best' team that the manager has - the default 11 for the most important games, which all players want to be in and I thought it would be obvious that that's what was being referred to.

Their lack of goals was the problem, if those two get back to normal things will change considerably. They have scored very consistently up till last season.

Not really no. Don't mean to be argumentative but it's really not that black and white. I reckon certain games will require Soumare and Wilf, certain will require Madds as a CAM some will require a back 3 etc etc. The best thing we can do is be as flexible and have many options as possible. Bringing Mendy or Hamza on to keep a lead or keep things tight is not ideal. 1

Claudio Fannieri Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 There are a few things that we are not party too that could influence the clubs decision - 1) change / tweak to formation and tactics that could mean less reliance on Madders 2) could selling Madders give us necessary funds to strengthen in a number of positions 3) how serious or how concerned the club are about the extent of Evans injury, do we need to bring in a replacement now rather than in 12 months time therefore need additional budget 4) long term concerns regards Madders hip problem and some off field antics might just be in the mind that it’s time to cash in 5) Madders may be pushing to move to a traditional big 6 club, no doubt we are on the up and currently ahead of Arsenal but as yet we may still not be the size of club or brand that Madders feels fits his profile 6) we genuinely don’t want to sell and he won’t push for move therefore we stay as we are. what I am sure is the club will have its position set and whichever way this goes I am certain we are well positioned to push on and progress. I trust the decision makers at the club to make the right and best decision that suits us and our future development

GingerrrFox Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 Genuine question. Would you rather keep Maddison or sell for £45-50 million with Joe Willock from Arsenal and use some of the money to purchase Noni Madueke? 1
Edingleyfox Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 I'd take £60 million cash but no part-exchanges. We still need another winger and probably a central defender. Don't think anything will happen
whoareyaaa Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 if Maddision had a constant run of games then he could one of our most influencial players as we have seen in glimpses why strengthen a rival when we haven't even seen the best of him yet
Rusko187 Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 Didn't one of our ITKs allude to the fact that the club would be willing to let him go, but don't want to make it absolutely obvious. He has his moments of brilliance, but with injuries and some conduct issues it might be time to cash in.

If selling Maddison financed Berardi/Madueke Pereira/#10 replacement And possibly with change left over to help finance a centre half. I'd seriously consider it, but then, I don't rate Maddison as highly as others do on here. 4
