More because vestegaard only played about 10 minutes of said half… and we conceded a goal in that time that was largely down to him getting turned easily by the spartak player after giving it away

Because Perez had a good game last time he played and people need someone to deride (for some weird reason) even after a landmark win away in Europe

Being brought in as a 'Stand-in', is a poor argument....Don't they realise by that metric, that he has failed?

 

At least if we had spent £15 million on a 20-24 year old, he could have improved over time and adapted to the league, if he had struggled initially.

He may even have come in, and hit the ground running, like Soyuncu did for example, when he first became a regular.

Or struggled in his first few games, and then have a huge uplift in form like Justin did, who looked out of his depth too initially.

 

But the £15 million has been wasted.....

He is a 'short-term' signing, and in the 'short-term' we've already dropped too many points in the league since he has been here.

 

Whereas the roughly £20 million fees for Soumare+Daka were not 'wasted', even if they had took a good 6-12 months to get up to speed with us, because of their age and coming from abroad.

 

Nathan Collins who went to Burnley from Stoke for example, would have been a far better purchase.

20, homegrown, impressed massively in the very physical championship with around 40 games at that level.

Plenty of time to improve too, with some great natural physical attributes, and would have been aware coming here that he would have all the chances he needed to establish himself in the first team.

"We conceded more goals in the 82 minutes before he came on" is perhaps not the gotcha you think it is.

Well he isn't a capable stand in, he's been our worst defender so far this season by some margin and that's even with Soyuncu making 3-4 glaring errors for goals, Vestergaard has done the same from about a 1/3 of the amount of minutes.

A lot of bandwagon jumping going on, single out a target and join the mob. It was Perez until last Saturday. These players are nothing like as bad as some make out. They are certainly not great but they have their place in the squad. We are not the sort of outfit to have 23 faultless players. Man.Utd. thought they had a virtually perfect squad with the arrival of Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo - They were wrong.

Yes, they had one of the worst defences in the league with him and Bertrand.

That Livramento kid from Chelsea has gone there and looks a class above, and i'm sure he will soon be brought back by Chelsea.

 

Like we saw with Fofana, and Soyuncu, even Ndidi/Justin/Tielemans/Soumare/Vardy etc, 'PL Experience' is vastly overrated.

 

Especially when he looked as poor as he did at Southampton.

Its your right to state your opinion obviously, just as it’s my right to wait for a larger sample size so a more informed, less reactive judgement can be made.

Wonder if playing alongside Evans, who like Kjaer has strong leadership qualities, will bring out the best in him as well, similar to the improvement in Soyuncu when Evans plays?

 

If both of them play together, pace is a problem in a back four but in a 3-man defence, we can have Soy on the right as well.
