The defense has to be separated from the group and all of them doing extra time on the training field getting their basic shi! together. I know it’s not our ideal defensive line or shape but bloody hell these lot are borderline amateurish. 

They are experienced pros performing way below the level required. There is no excuses they have to step up. So damn disappointing as we paid good money for the Southampton pair. Felt bad for nacho on his birthday he deserved a win for his efforts and Vardy too.

Vestergaard is poor at every aspect of defending, not sure what’s going on with Benkovic as he must surely be a better option than this gobshite, Nelson in the U/23s should also be given a shout.

Another problem with Vestergaard is that he's a friend of Schmeichel, so to get him out the team now is going to cause issues as we know how Schmeichel can be when he doesn't agree with something.

Schmeichel would have to be blind if he thinks Vestergaard is playing well

He reminds me of a lad I used to play with at Oadby Town under 13s couldn't play football for toffee but played centre back every week solely because he was 12 years old and about 6ft tall

Quite possibly. Nacho only got to start today as a birthday treat and he was allowed to bring Hamza as a guest of honour because it was his birthday on Friday.

Didn’t really pay enough attention to Denmark’s tactics in the Euros, but I clearly remember thinking Vesty looked absolutely fine. Why is he suddenly looking so questionable? Are we just looking closer, now he’s in blue? I think Denmark played a 3 at the back? Seem to recall he played on the left of that? Alarmingly, with the injuries we have, he is as good an option as we have - therefore we need to find a shape that gives us that secure defensive platform on which to build. I don’t think playing Dan or anyone else is a better option - no matter how average he’s looked thus far 😞😞

When you put it like that....I want to puke up. Really damages Brendan/Congerton reputation the transfer market. What's happened to our once trusted football analysis recruitment team. Can't we get Steve Walsh back in, even it's just a consultant position or even Claude Puel who I think would be great in finding quality young players for us.

He really is. Even if you just consider the style we play, which is a high line. A lot of the complaints about Vestergaard is his lack of pace and getting beaten too easily, that doesn't happen with Amartey as he's much quicker.

 

But Amartey is also better in 1 on 1 situation. Not saying he never gets beaten, but he's more likely to make the tackle than Vestergaard. And it's not like you're gaining anything in the air as despite his height, he awful in the air.

 

So yeah, Amartey might not be Evans or Forfana, but he a damn sight better than Vestergaard.
