We have got to match them up physically tomorrow or I fear they will just bully us into submission. I have a feeling Norwich are going to be up for it and we have to be totally focused for 90 minutes. Playing them at their strengths is a certain way to lose the game. If we set up to favour the kind of game they'll thrive in then Rodgers is much less competent than I ever thought. 1
dayday Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 I’m looking forward to the game, we was very poor at there place but we could and should of nicked a point at the end it would of been underserved though Ricardo and Vards was struggling for form, but they showing that the break has done them good. I really hope we get at them as defensively I don’t think they’re owt special.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 Tough game. Would take a point. Nervous about our defence without bertrand and Evans.
whoareyaaa Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 Would be nice to see Soumare start he does give us that extra steel in the middle Perez surely has to be on the bench for this KDH is another option we could use

It was pretty straight forward on the tube. A lot of their support spears to be Essex based and I’ve no idea the size of station car parks out that way. No real help sorry! 2 hours ago, tom27111 said: I'm thinking of parking at Epping and getting the tube, or my Mrs has found a parking spot on an app about 10 minutes walk from the stadium, for 6 quid. Cockfosters is quite a tube ride. I've been told to just park at the massive Stratford shopping centre. Step-daughters mates family are season ticket holders at West Ham and that's all they do. I think I'll try that. Now to find out if that's covered by the congestion charge...

Vestegaard in for Perez would of been my assumption but if the injury rumours are true or he’s not up to speed yet, I think he’ll go with the following to offer more protection for Amartey & because of the way Antonio bullied Soyuncu last season. Kasper Ricardo Castagne Amartey Soyuncu Thomas Ndidi Tielemans Maddison Vardy Barnes Interesting that there are none of the summer signings starting in this team, essentially last season's team with Dan for Wesley 1

There is a long way to go and so far we only have 1 PL game, 1 community shield game and 3 friendlies to go off. And of course last season as the squad is fairly similar. We struggled with West Ham last season and I think a draw will be a good result. People are expecting us to finish Top 4, not sure where the arrogance/complacency comes from. Of course you have the negative ones who think we are doomed and will finish lower half. Personally I like to be realistic and not get too excited. The last two seasons are proof of why that should be. Lots to look forward to this season, 5th downwards is a reall challenge and one we should be involved in once again. Way too early to predict a PL final table. There is a good indication that the Top 4 will be strong and hard to displace but a rotten injury streak and that could change. We made some horrendous starts to away games last season, I remember this one, Brighton and Southampton. We need to start well, and be positive, at least take the game to them. I just hope Brendan doesn't go "safety first" with five across the back. This leaves a widening gap between midfield and Barnes/Vardy where are only out ball is for the defence to launch it. Who knows what will happen though, this could go any way of three results. 4 1
Wymsey Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 Fair play to anyone who's going after work to travel to London to watch this..

Dr The Singh Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 What do we know if any West ham injuries, is there any chance the team went out for a late night dodgy curry or dirty kebab and all have stomach flu? Just Antonio will do. 1
don_danbury Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 there seems to be a debate on their forum on who has the better starting 11
Hoopla10 Posted 22 August 2021 Posted 22 August 2021 (edited) Fofana fit and in the team I'd feel much more confident. It would have been so nice to at least start this season with a fully fit team. Obviously not a 6 pointer and not really a gauge of the rest of the season but it will be an important game for both teams. Top 4 are taken up with teams splashing millions on players, the next league down has us and WH competing to top. An early victory against them will give the team a lot of confidence going forward. We have the talent to out play them but we need a solid foundation at the back. I only hope BR doesn't over compensate at the back to the point we nullify our ability to do what we're actually really good at. And Mads needs to step up. Edited 22 August 2021 by Hoopla10 1

I only hope BR doesn't over compensate at the back to the point we nullify our ability to do what we're actually really good at. And Mads needs to step up. My reading of it exactly. Despite the terrible and untimely loss of Little Wes, we’ve still got a superb squad with both physicality and some very dangerous players. There's absolutely no need to be running scared or adopting the end of last seasons 'just try not to lose ' tactics. At worst, with Ricardo, Armarty, Soyuncu and Thomas, there's still a very decent foundation there, it's what you put in front of them that counts. How Rodgers sets up for this one will tell us quite a bit about him I think. With all that talent on the bench and only one player down there's no excuse to play people out of position and merely try to stifle games in the hope of nicking a goal in the second half anymore. 1
jim5000 Posted 23 August 2021 Posted 23 August 2021 We're not going to lose three matches in a row to West Ham. 1

Iran Posted 23 August 2021 Posted 23 August 2021 Schmeichel Pereira - Vestergaard (if fit) - Soyuncu - Thomas Ndidi - Tielemans Perez - Maddison - Barnes Vardy (4-2-3-1) 1

I'd prefer to see Castagne playing down the right with Ricardo or Albrighton starting in truth. It's a big test tonight and I'd be happy with a draw. COYB 1
Lambert09 Posted 23 August 2021 Posted 23 August 2021 Really not looking forward to this one. All of their strengths tend to be our biggest weaknesses and well simply, they are a very decent side these days. Dare I say I’d take a point. 3

I would be tempted to put another body in midfield and possibly do a Brendan in terms of getting to 60 minutes at 0 - 0 and then look to bring on Kelechi
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 23 August 2021 Posted 23 August 2021 I've woken up at 3.21 this morning so pre match nerves have already kicked in. Leaving at 2pm to get to the London Stadium in good time. I'm just hoping I'll make kick off as I'll be absolutely knackered. COYB 1

You must of been watching a different game to me, until Kelechis goal on 70 minutes we was poor, obviously didn’t help with Perez’s Covid party, which forced Rodgers into a different team selection West Ham in most of there games start well then wilt in the last 20, but we allowed them to race into a 3/0 lead, defensively we was an absolute shambles. 1
