I've woken up at 3.21 this morning so pre match nerves have already kicked in.

Leaving at 2pm to get to the London Stadium in good time.

I'm just hoping I'll make kick off as I'll be absolutely knackered.

We made some horrendous starts to away games last season, I remember this one, Brighton and Southampton. We need to start well, and be positive, at least take the game to them. I just hope Brendan doesn't go "safety first" with five across the back. This leaves a widening gap between midfield and Barnes/Vardy where are only out ball is for the defence to launch it.

Who knows what will happen though, this could go any way of three results.

Well said and we have enough quality in the team to take it to them and any other team in the league we really don't need to be safety first

They battered us twice last season so it's not hard to see why they think their team is better than ours. We've finished above them for four seasons in a row so it's not hard to see why we think our team is better than theirs.

Schmeichel

Pereira - Vestergaard (if fit) - Soyuncu - Thomas

Ndidi - Tielemans

Perez - Maddison - Barnes

Vardy

(4-2-3-1)

Don’t you think Castagne starts at left back ahead of Thomas? Although I don’t think he’s anywhere near as effective on the left as he is the right, it is the position he was brought in to fill, would be a big show of confidence in Thomas if he’s picked over Timmy.

Vestergaard injured then. Honestly, we can’t catch a break.

No room for Perez. He'd be brushed aside and contribute little. I'd probably even start without Maddison unless his hip is fully ok and even then I don't think he's quite there yet and performances haven't been great.

I still think we’re better with Amartey and Soyuncu in a two, rather than a 3 at the back. However, the for’s and against’s are close.

Our biggest shortcoming last two seasons was depth, not the starting team. This summer's window has gone some ways in addressing that.

One way of improving depth as well as making the starting XI stronger is just sign players better than you already have. Easier said than done but it isn't just the case the as long as we have better depth that we'll be better equipped for the top 4 this time around. We have issues on the wing and defensively we could be vulnerable which I hope doesn't mean Rodgers will then try and contain things with a more defensive set up as we aren't anywhere near as effective in doing so.

Really worried that BR's response to yet another defensive injury will be to play 5 at the back with Castagne as RCB. That was largely catastrophic last season so I really hope he resists the temptation.

Can't play 3 at back cos we dont have three fit ones. Stick to a four same starting back line as last Saturday. God help us if Soy or big Dan pick up an injury we will be left with no alternative but to stick Wilf in there which seriously weakens our midfield too.

Is Vestergaard actually injured or have the media just picked up on the rumour from on here? BR said he was just short of match fitness the other day?

Agree..

Both lightweight especially against this lot!

Like to see KDH start tonight.

Totally agree -  for some reason I think this match would suit KDHs style. Replace Perez (or even Maddison)

How long will Brendan resist the urge to chuck Ndidi in at CB..

if it doesnt happen tonight it wont happen this season.

Can see it to fit Sourmare in without really changing the shape.

We can't afford a slow start. We've got to be at it from the start. The way to beat them is keep possession and run them into the ground.

It's likely to be physical so I'd start with Soumare or KDH in midfield and leave Youri free to run the game.

A win tonight will be a big statement.

Wasn't it WH he got injured covering for Morgan. It's a big test for him up against Antonio.

I'm sure they'll play on Dan's inexperience.

A good performance from him tonight and it will boost his confidence greatly. Then we'll see him grow as a player.

You must of been watching a different game to me, until Kelechis goal on 70 minutes we was poor, obviously didn’t help with Perez’s Covid party, which forced Rodgers into a different team selection

West Ham in most of there games start well then wilt in the last 20, but we allowed them to race into a 3/0 lead, defensively we was an absolute shambles.

The reality is that on FT on any given game day, it seems everyone is watching "a different game." lol

I have most of our games on DVR and often re-watch them several times, sometimes just concentrating on particular aspects of each game. We were by far the better team in the second half, and by the end of the game they were desperately clinging on for dear life. Another 10 minutes or thereabouts, we probably would either have equalized and gone ahead - or been suckered punched by a counter-attack and fallen further behind. That was the nature of the football played by both sides on the day, but to say a draw would have been "undeserved" is frankly stretching credibility. It was the proverbial game of two halves.
