Some of those away trips not interest you as a fan?

.. the Conference is a new lower tier competition, a lot of people on here even considering the Europa a poor man's Champions league!!!

The sentiments expressed regarding finishing bottom of this league in order to concentrate on our league position is one I  completely endorse.

To take on an additional 2 more games should we finish second, is not something that the club would be relishing but it is a means to an end.

Guess its just a different way of looking at it. From the fans point of view rather than the clubs where they may not want the extra games whereas those trips get you excited.

I had thought the same and then had to give myself a slap as based on our current form I’m not sure why anyone would assume we would beat the likes of Roma, Copenhagen, Spurs or Basel (& others) over 2 legs on the way to ECL glory!

Form can change pretty quickly

Most clubs do but watch the videos of Man U and Chelsea players and fans celebrating when they won it in the last 5 years.

If we reached the final of the conference the while feels changes, even more so if you win it.

I watch a number of City fans belittle the meaning of the FA Cup until we got to the final and bloody won it.

I can't be the only one that's more bothered about where my next trip will be than the inner workings of the club if we have to play extra games by qualifying.

I will never understand how fans want us to get out of any European competition to concentrate on the league. I’ve known lads follow Chelsea, Arsenal and United all over Europe growing up and been envious for 20 years, now I finally have the chance to do the same.

Is it because these fans won’t follow us around Europe anyway, so they’re not bothered? I’m genuinely curious btw, not trying to be disrespectful.

The more European games we play the better, I couldn’t give a toss who it’s against, the memories will last a lifetime. Anyone who seriously thinks finishing 7th instead of 9th will convince players like Tielemans or Ricardo to stay is clutching at straws.

It's one of the things that kept me going with the whole pandemic. Having a pint on Warsaw Old Town Square in September was worth it. If we can't make Europe, second half of the season; I'll be looking at a football trip abroad.

It would be extremely disappointing to fail to progress from this group, but we're in no position to turn our noses up at the Conference League tbh. Finishing bottom of the group would be a seriously poor showing.

.. Hard to believe any City fan decrying the F.A. Cup!!!

I want us to win every competition we are taking part in, we however have managed to underperform so far in Europe with the resounding action being a demotion to a lesser competition leading to  impacting on a league campaign needing immediate resuscitation.

Should we eventually end up winning the conference, I would be pleased for the club and players that have won a medal, but it would leave me cold watching our exploits in a competition we are taking part in due to our failure in previous campaign.

That's why I joined the England Supporters Travel Club mate, least you get to visit different cities/countries and act a tit at least once every year. I know understand why so many lower league lads follow England, as without it they'll never get to experience football trips abroad.

Me too, but we have put the PL first, if we have rested anyone its been for a EL games.

I think the current model of dropping team down from the CL > EL> Con L is odd. But I would still enjoy watching us win the Con L.

What does that actually achieve? Why give up a potential 2 more European games (and more) just to concentrate on finishing 10th in the league? We strive to play in Europe and now we are in it, we want to throw games? Really weird.

I want this European journey to continue as long as possible and I don't care which competition. I would also love to win the League Cup as a route into Europe for next year as that is our best shot.

Exactly. Problem is the club and Rodgers specifically is guilty of this. Resting players before hostile atmospheres like that match in Warsaw. He once rested gerrard against madrid because of a stupid game in the league on Sunday. I blame the club also because our investment i.n summer was pitiful. And especially signing useless players like Vestergaard and bertrand (that have been as such so far). While not signing another winger or a genuinely good cb. Take Europe by storm ffs. Look at west ham. Good investment and good results. We didn't spend enough and clearly didn't sign the right "experience".

....West Ham engine room has driven that team and are just as adept at clearing up the danger posed to their defence.!!!

Soucek and Rice has been a force this season  and last and it will be a matter of time when the sharks start to circle.

The thing will be if either of them get injured as West Ham have done well in terms of injuries until now with Ogbonna

Rice and Soucek has started pretty much every game so far and if either of those get an injury their cover is a 34 year old Mark Noble and Alex Kral who is very unknown at Prem level

Lose Antonio and they have no other strikers

Needs to change pretty quickly for us this season.

Right now I’d be getting them all to check down the back of the sofa to see if they can find it. It’s got to be somewhere.

If there's anything involving forms, just don't let Iheanacho near it.

Got a feeling we beat Ligia and Napoli beat Moscow.

Then we play out a tame draw with Napoli, for them to finish 1st and we get 2nd

Actually finishing 3rd and winning the Conf League could be our easiest route back into Europe

Apologies if this has been explained earlier, but wouldn't a win v Legia and a tame draw at Napoli give us 9 points? The same as legia would have after, presumably, beating Moscow?

Then it's head to head, right? Meaning we'd need a 2+ goal win v Legia?

It's had to head to head do if we beat Ligia 1-0 it will then go to goal difference and ours is a lot better.

If we beat by two clear goals we go straight though on head to head.

Only problem is if we beat them 3-2 as they would be better head to head because of away goals.

Don't even need to beat Legia by +2 as away goals don't count. Legia would need to pit 5 or 6 past Spartak

As just posted above, away goals do not count in head to head.
