I’m not talking Jon snow bastard I mean Roy Keane esque!

Agree, I know that they have this policy of signing players whose personality fits . But everybody does seem a bit too nice . Need to sign a couple of dickheads.

Still need a bastard

Any viable targets? I tend not to invest my energies in players like this as I purvey the finer things in life, but I agree we need a beast.

Morelos?*

(*I understand that might be a bit of an extreme idea, given his behaviour at times.)

Anyone take Tolisso as Youri’s replacement? Out of contract in the summer, or Witsel is another with his contract ending and could provide some much needed experience in the middle of the park?

No clue if either would come here but could be tempted by a shot at playing in the prem

Perhaps we should bid for Gilmour.  The route to the Chelsea team seems blocked.

If we were turned down for Gilmour, we could makeale a bid for Gallagher.

If that was rejected, we could go for Kante.

The breadth of Chelsea's squad is ridiculous.

I don’t know how fair it is to put any wingback in today’s PL against Cafu 😜

🤣🤣 actually, that's a very good point. Many years ago I once watched him live for Roma against Inter in a pre-season friendly (if there is such a thing) and he absolutely mesmerised me, he seemed inhuman such was his stamina! So yes, very unfair, granted.

I think some wing backs are merely failed/converted wingers or midfielders. Some are merely fullbacks that can foray forward a bit. A rare, proper wing back for me, is combination of a winger that can either dribble or, with an initial burst of from a standing start, use an explosive burst of pace to beat a man to engineer a cross or other attack, but, at the same time, have the stamina and pace to race back and be a consumate defender. Such a player is very rare I think.

When Ricardo first arrived, his defending wasn't the best. By his own mouth he said he had to work in the gym on his strength to deal with the more aggressive pacey Premiership game and prior injury, became something quite special I think but, nevertheless, his attacking play was best when coming from deep  he's no winger. Castagne is similar but still not a proper wingback for me and certainly not on the left.

Honestly ric I couldn’t suggest anyone of that ilk, but I do look at the team and think they’re far too nice at times. We need some physical specimens whether it be in midfield or upfront, it’s something that we truly lack.

Could someone with better will power gather a list of bastards we should sign?

Got to be a centre half bastard ain't it, or a shithouse attacking midfielder. Not many other positions where they'd get in first choice.

Now, this is a fair post! I think Castagne is a quality player on either flank but you’re certainly entitled to your opinion on him. Of course, I’d love two see us play with the type of wingbacks you’ve described when we set up with three at the back.

Watching Berardi win that late penalty for Italy gave me another bout of the “what ifs…”

I think Soyuncu could be that beast but he seems to have lost his way a little. Doesn't seem to have that nasty edge to his game anymore

Along with plenty of other clubs, we have been watching an 18 year old playmaker centre mid currently playing for Dynamo Moscow called Arsen Zakharyan

Has 2 goals and 7 assists in 14 games in all competitions so far this season

May also have taken an interest in his teammate 19 year old striker Konstantin Tyukavin who has 6 goals and 1 assists in 16 games in all competitions

Ziyech isn't getting a look-in at Chelsea. He'd be great for us.

....it would be a bit of a coup to pick him up, but his perception of his worth has been the reason why he has now come to the Premier League, he wasn't  prepared to come to any old team!!!

He might be under the cosh at Chelsea and with Tuchel as manager who takes no prisoners he might be best suited to a club not so much under the microscope. If it was a case of people looking for a Mahrez replacement then he is it.
