another worldie from Tielemans

A first goal for Daka

Did I miss anything?

Evans back and adding assurance to the backline

Castagne proving he can be effective at Left Back

Soumare looking like Ndidi with a forward pass in him

Iheanacho being absolutely pivotal to everything we are trying to achieve

To be honest I think an awful lot of goals that are seen as brilliant are as much luck as anything. Greenwood’s goal was spectacular but he tried similar at least twice after that and got nowhere near. His goal was hit with the outside of his foot, bent away from Kasper and went in off the post. Striking a ball in this way gets loads of power but sometimes not so much control. In golfing terms, the difference between a fade and a slice.

Yes. It's often the case that a shot from that point off/on the boot where the player tries to give it spin and power can end up in the 'gods' twenty feet beyond the post. The fans might jeer the miss, but it's a phenomenally difficult technique done in a moment, and, when it does work, then it can be a GotM.

It may seem irrelevant now but Pawson ......When the assessors watch that, I'd have two questions:-

1 - How can Pogba have 5 free "naughty ones" the trips and tugs on the halfway line that Wilf or Soumare would get booked for if not every time then every second time, before getting a last warning and then finally get a yellow for the 6th one. They were those break stopping fouls that aren't last man but are the sort that we'd get punished for but the likes of Fernandinho and Pogba (and Matic) make a career out of. Hamza? It would be every one a yellow card.

2- Fernandes as assistant referee.

Every decision, every one of our free kicks, there he is re-setting the ball, arguing, guiding the ref. No, F*** off. Can you imagine one of ours, let's say a lesser famous player trying that for 90 minutes. You're the ref, grow a pair, in minute one stamp your authority, it's a decision that's been made it's not a negotiation. Having said that the corner that Pogba asked for and then got when Pawson had already given a goal kick....that's what it looked like but my only suggestion would be that he got a comment in his earpiece from the linesman (on that flank on the halfway line) that influenced him, I just can't believe it was as simple as Pogba - "I'm ever so famous, I want it to be a corner" Ref - "Duh, OK then"!

He let too much go but to be fair that allowed the unbroken high tempo and in the case of the Vardy goal, we were screaming about the challenge on Castagne but he played on and we benefited. However the foul count / card ratio, particularly at half time stank the place out (or was that "Jimmy 4-burgers" in cubicle 3), they're either very clever fouls or too lenient refereeing and in the case of Pogba it's not like they were thinly spread around.

Nobody talks about luck when player misses a goal, it's always poor play or bad technique. When a player scores a worldie you should accept it as meant.

Now the dust has settled, I will pop up with the only minor criticism which was their second goal. Think it was avoidable, and given he's the kingpin who's supposed to be marshalling the high line we were holding, Evans didn't really do the job right and sat too deep.  It's why Cags needs an experienced head alongside, because he looks to others for positioning in those situations, so expected a little better from Jonny there. :dunno:

Nothing else to complain about though. Their other goal was a worldie, we looked defensively solid otherwise, and we were scary in attack. :scarf:

Couldnt believe that plonka running on the pitch at full time. That's his season over (at least).

I was honestly expecting a more heavy-handed response, we've just a high profile murder from a random member of the public in the past few days and the police are no-doubt on high alert for nobbers acting suspiciously. In some other countries, that kid would have been lucky not to have a gun or two trained on him.

Look at Maguire lol lol

Takes a step to Vardy, Vardy doesn't move but Maguire just steps away from him leaving him open lol

Vardy's goal gets better every time I watch it . Such a difficult technique, half volley, outside of the foot.

So many similarities to the 5-3....big name Utd stars....poor Utd defending....Vardy scores.....Leicester striker gets his first prem goal (Vardy then - Daka now) talisman midfielder scores....2 goal margin...list goes on....even the free kick Vardy won at the end against Wan Bissaka reminded me of the penalty foul he won against Rafael in 2014...spooky

Hmmmm......hope that is coincidence. (What happenned next?)

The tunnel cam is a good watch...highlights include at 9.06 Kasper having a go at the ref saying he is waiting for the ref to give us a cheap yellow card but won't give Matic one! Also at the end nice to see Justin and Fofana giving their congratulations.

Doesn't Schmeichel say 'I am just waiting for you to give a cheap yellow card to us' and the Pawson replies 'Oh, its gonna happen, so you can moan'?  lol Can't hear the rest, its all a bit muffled. Unreal that Matic did not get a yellow in that game though.

I thought the shin was a legal part of the body to score a goal with. What in the world does it matter if the goal is with the shin or foot? Can you not shape a shot with your shin?

Crikey, Maguire was awful yesterday!

From his pissing about on the ball, to his passing, to his positioning it was one of the worst displays I’ve seen from a CB for some time

Rodgers knew he could be got at, too. Having worked with him for six months, players played alongside him for a couple of years, you could see Vardy and Iheanacho fancying their chances.

I'd really like to see that goal from behind the goal. I want to appreciate Vardy's technique. It really was not an easy strike, with the ball bouncing where/when it did, and Vardy managed, somehow, to get his body position and weight set to get the shot away and on target to de Gea's left. You'd probably skew that to the corner flag 9 times out of 10.

He favours the bigger teams and always has, he is a complete and utter spineless ****. Just look at how he didnt give us a penalty when Fofana was clattered at Spurs last season right infront of his eyes and needed VAR to pull him up on it. Doesnt matter if its the first minute of the game or the last, a cynical pull back/clip to stop a dangerous attack is a yellow card all day long and failure to clamp down on it will result in players consistently doing it and spoiling the game. Definitely my least favourite ref in the Prem and that is saying something

Absolutely spot on!! Add to the list Matic’s cynical foul on Maddison after 2mins which should have been a yellow card too! Pawson is  as soft as they come.

There was a Pogba shot in the first half which went wide, he’s taking an age to decide if their was a nick on it, Pogba gets in his ear … corner given. I’ve not seen that one back on TV but in real time it looked pretty clear he was unsure until being swayed by the bloke next to him. He really was absolutely useless!!!
