Got to say… starting a thread looking for compliments about someone is usually best done when they’re succeeding somewhere else, not failing? lol

What's happening at St Ettiene is expected. Pointless, low-energy possession football gets you spanked every week. Frankly, I'm just surprised it never got that bad while he was in charge of us.

That's why, when we're crap under Brendan, the comparisons are drawn. Puelball is probably going to be a permanent part of our vocabulary as fans now, the definition of 'what not to do'.

St Etienne are sitting bottom of the table with no wins after 11? games, it’s not surprising the fans want him out.

I was never a Puel hater and last season they did ok, but I think he is on borrowed time.

Need to step up the intensity Claude

Seeing he's all over the Internet having problems at St Etiene, I'm shocked at the hatred some of our fans have for him.

Whilst I was pulling my hair out at the time, and calling for him to go, it is my opinion he did a good job in a transitional period for our club and whilst results were not good, he was on the right track and given more time would imo have turned it around. This is no way anything against Brendan Rodgers, I just dont think Clause Puel deserves pelters from our fans.

Some comments I've seen include - I'll never forgive him for what he did to our club.

Please discuss.

....very much what the majority of our fanbase were doing and the whole forum became toxic!!!

I certainly did not rate him in regards to his ability to turn this team into something that could resemble success, and his relationship with his players effectively stifled any chance of moving forward.

If he is continuing to go through life like a robot, and fail to learn that he needs to have some kind of feelings for the people around him, then he will continue to emulate the "...ancient Mariner".

Sooner or later his dogmatic approach will have to be consigned to the bin, in order for him to align his eye for talent, with the ability to harbour players, wanting to play for  him.

I remember he started Gray up top over Vardy who he was trying to phase out far, far too early - clueless. 'Transitional period' or not, we still had some very good footballers and he never properly got the best out of any of them, bar a small purple patch after he arrived.

He's obviously not the worst manager we've ever had but his time with us left me disillusioned.

I don't see the point of getting outraged either way. Rodgers is much, much better and a much better fit than he was. We've made good progress since he left. For me, he was underwhelming and never a long term appointment.

He's not the worst we've ever had by a long way but neither is he still worth getting upset about.

I have absolutely zero respect for him. People point to whatever signings he made but to be honest we don't know what input he had in those since we are told recruitment has a lot of automany with the way the club is run. What I do know is that multiple players and journalists (including one who posts on this very forum) have come out and said what a nasty piece of work Puel is. From what has been said of him isolating individuals, treating employees with no respect and attempting his little divide and rule game I can only conclude Puel is a bully. Being good at your job is all well and good but first rule should be to approach the people who work for and with you like human beings. The man was trying to get rid of our greatest ever player for Pete's sake, a player who the season after Puel was rightly binned won the Golden Boot. Frankly, if Puel came out the tunnel at the King Power again for any reason i'd boo him. He's a cretin.

His treatment of Kingy in particular makes me livid. He'd been through it all with us and the way he was frozen out without Puel ever even speaking to him was disgusting. I maintain he was still a capable Prem player at the time, as shown by his loan at Swansea, but it's taken him four years to even recover his career at Championship level.

I'm massively grateful to Brendan for handling the transition away from our title-winning squad respectfully - Morgan and Fuchs knew they still had a role as their minutes diminished for us.

.... explains the Puel phenomena...!!!

First season success never good in the second.

You get the feeling he comes into a club, analyses the situation and then plays to their strengths.

Second season, he begins to implement his own style and ideas and failure ensues.

He maybe good as a scout or a coach but should not be near the managers position unless as an assistant and not making the final decision.
