...Dyche reminds me of Moyes, kept the team in the league had one or two players who could play for the top teams but chose to stay at Everton and was never in a situation where relegation was an issue.

Some fans would be happy with that, but you can't sit and stagnate and call it an achievement.

I suppose as a experiment it would be Interesting to see how he deals with a club with ambition and an increased spending budget. I am not sure I want to be a guinea-pig to prove if it will be successful, but it might work, the problem is Moyes had to go away in order for him to look at the game in a different light, I think he wasted a few years stagnating with Everton.

I take your point that managing a club with more resources and greater expectations requires a different skill set. He did however finish 7th with a team that had no right to be be there. I bought it up on the 'Unpopular Opinions' thread that if he had an exotic name and wasn't a ginger fella with a shaved head then he would have been offered a bigger job by now. I'm not saying that he would have been offered the job at Chelsea or Man City but a stable midtable team with more resources.

...if I remember was this not at our expense, when he got that 7th spot!!!

I remember we had our name on the European spot but fell away right at the end (seems to be a recurring trait) not sure if it was under Puel our Rodgers first season.

It was under Puel. We ended up finishing 9th with Everton finishing 8th under Alla Alla Allardyce

Sean Dyche for me. His strengths are currently every weakness that we have.

Makes his sides solid at the back. Plays 2 up top. His teams play with pride and plenty of balls. No soft players. Proper tough. I’d love to know what he could do with a budget and a proper set of players.

Despite being pigeonholed at Burnley, I think Dyche would likely be adaptable enough to be capable of making a step up to a side with more resources.

I just have enough doubts about it that i'm not sure i'd want us to ever be the proving ground.

I feel that the club would want someone who is more of a name than Dyche.

Whether you like Rodgers work on the field, he has a good media profile and is very media savvy. Rodgers has elevated the club's profile over the last 2.5 years.

Frank wouldn't be my choice, but I can see him being a popular choice with the club hierarchy.

No way the club lump for Frank. I would be very surprised if his CV even got a look. Let's face it - he got the Chelsea job because of who he is to the club. And he STILL couldn't get Derby promoted despite them getting half of Chelsea's youth team support.

100% expect them to go international on the next manager.

The fact Dyche has never shown any appetite in winning a trophy at Burnley is a big no no for me

Is it fair to judge him on that though? Burnley are fighting to stay in the league almost every season and have a much smaller squad than most. Whether it's him or the club hierarchy that are making the decision, I understand their decision to not go full throttle at the cup competitions. Especially see how badly their small European campaign took its toll on them.

Just me or does this international break feel like it’s been going on for months ?

Every international break does.

I can't wait to start moaning about football again, this manager chat is a tiresome.

I think it is an era when Burnley get huge TV deals year on year. They’ve stabilised now for numerous years. The FA Cup would be three extras matches outside of the normal calendar. It’s hardly the same dynamic as European football. Yet they rarely go full strength. I think Dyche plays his role very well in underplaying Burnley’s potential. Plenty of clubs their size have achieved success in the trophies, it can be done. Fair few in their region too and someone with a similar playing style, Stoke, had good cup runs too

This thread is precisely why I want Rodgers to stay. We regularly talk about the progress that we have made over the past few years yet some of the names on here are so uninspiring. Dyche? Lampard? Frank? If you actually take a step back and think that they’re better options than what we have currently then I’m honestly astounded. These are names that I’d have liked around 2018/2019 but Rodgers has taken us up to a next level. We either keep Rodgers or go all out for a seriously good manager - it’s as simple as that for me. Let’s not settle for a downgrade, as in my view, a lot of you are calling for much worse managers than Rodgers right now.

I genuinely don’t think there’s a manager out there that is easily attainable and can take us to the next level.

Rodgers leaving would be a disaster for us, and I think will see us stagnate for a while.

None of Potter, Frank, Dyche or Lampard would take us to where we want to be.

Dyche has hated us since we won the championship title. As we 'bought' the title in his view. Don't think he is type of manager our club is looking for.

I don’t think that’s the case, I think he wanted the job when puel got it.

Even if you believe that to be true, I have absolutely no doubt that he would jump at the opportunity to manage us if he was offered the job.

He definitely would, and he would change his tune too…. “I’ve always admired Leicester and their modest resources”

....this league is worth a fortune, either they are paying too much in wages or their club is severely mismanaged!!!

He's pals with Rudkin. He would jump at the chance to manage us.

Not that we will or should be looking at him.

I reckon Cambiasso would be a great manager, he’s a proper thinker and you could tell when he played with us, even though his legs had gone he was still mentally a step ahead of anyone on the pitch.
