Manchester United just seems such a toxic club currently.

There's too much pressure there with everyone expecting Ronaldo to solve all of their problems. In my opinion, Solskjaer was a failure waiting to happen - a rushed appointment made only on his playing involvement with the club.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Rodgers leave, and i wouldn't be too sad. He's done well for us, but ultimately this is yet another patch the club are going through, with substandard results, which he seems unable to do anything about.

If Rodgers was a club, he would be Tottenham - You know he's good, but there is just something missing to make him among 'The Best'.

I was having a general chit chat today about Brendan and this Man Utd link and the penny seriously dropped for me.

I have been a bit blasé about it all, but if you think about it logically, I’m absolutely sure that BR would jump at the chance to go Man Utd, for the simple reasons of “who else would he actually leave us for if not Man Utd…”,

Man City - YES (only 1 for me), but whether they would want him is a different question (and he probs knows that).

Man Utd - I think is his only realistic “big club” job.

Chelsea - already been there and are elite level, not sure they would want him.

Liverpool - been there, done that & can’t see him going back this soon.

Arsenal & Spurs - Too much of a work in progress to turnaround.

Ralf Rangnick. Throw the cheque book at him, make a statue of him the day he arrives. Tactical genius and the godfather of German football, Love BR but if Ralf was open to coming i'd wheel Rodgers out myself.
Only issue is Ralf has said himself previously he would be open to a return to management in "exceptional circumstances" I don't think Leicester would come under that umbrella. United would.

Ralf would get us back into the champions league.

I kindagot why they gave the job to Solskjaer though. Had they appointed another manager and they not gotten off to a good start, many questions would have been asked as to why they didn't appoint Solskjaer, given their form under him at the time. In hindsight, the best thing they could have done was wait until the end of the season before giving him the job permanently. To be fair to him though, he has finished in the top four twice and the first season that he did they had a wretched injury list in the first half of the season. It's all unravelling now but he's done better than I expected him to, for sure. I expected him to have been sacked by Christmas 2019.

Yes, because no manager has ever said one thing in a press conference and then proceeded to do something different... He may he telling the truth and there may be nothing in it, but always take these things with handful of salt.

I don't know how many times I see Ralf Rangnick's name used. Only really properly managed ten years ago. Since then it's largely been stepping in when the Red Bull group find themselves in the dump.

Indeed.

Brian Little categorically stated he wasn't interested in the Villa job a couple days before joining them.

If Brendan goes to Yanited i'd hope they look any of the following: Gasperini, Rangnick, Fonseca, Favre, Conceicao or Jesus.

It would take Jesus to turn this team around the way they're playing now.  But United isn't hiring Rodgers so it's a moot point.

I really don't see the obsession with this guy. It would be Puel 2.0

Don't want Jesus!

We've been crucified enough lately.

Ruben Amorim is the one, would apparently cost a lot to get him, possibly even more than we would get from Rodgers going to Man Utd, but I think it would definitely be worth it

After his short spell at Casa Pia (4 games) he was Braga Under 23 manager and then took over the senior job when that manager got sacked

13 games in charge, won 10, drew 1, lost 2 - beating sides like Sporting and Porto to win the Portuguese cup, leading to Sporting spending a similar amount to get him to what we paid for Rodgers and his whole backroom staff (€10 million)

Won Sporting their first league title in almost 20 years last season, only lost 1 league game all season, and conceded just 20 goals

Currently 2nd and still unbeaten after 11 games, having conceded just 4 goals

One of the best up and coming managers around at just 36, below article has a brilliant breakdown of every aspect of his 343 system - @StriderHiryu you will enjoy the article very much!

Definitely a very exciting manager to watch. Sporting sold Bruno Fernandes... and ended up as a better team because of the way they are coached. Achieved success through great team work as opposed to superstar players, even if Pote is very good.

Will be interesting to see where he goes as a fair few clubs around Europe would be interested in him. I can see why you'd highlight him, because the ability to get a team to perform better than the sum of their parts is the sort of coach Leicester City need. We won't ever be a Bayern / Real Madrid / PSG type club where it's about managing egos, so we need someone that can get a team to gel.

I think it'll end up being an overseas manager and here's why.

Part of me thinks I want someone with Premier League experience, by that I mean someone who has a track record over multiple seasons of doing well.

Managers like Frank would be dangerous. Yes Brentford are doing brilliantly but it seems the same pattern is always followed - look like a world beater at the start and then fall into oblivion. It's uncanny, take for example the following:

Holloway

Wilder

Farke

Dean Smith

Bielsa (could be argued he's starting to follow the same path.)

All these managers stock hit a peak where we'd probably have considered them (although we would have never been fooled by Holloway) but they all in the end just fizzle into nothingness.

So no to Frank.

That leaves your managers such as  Hassenhutl and Dyche. Both got a track record of doing good jobs in the PL and would be realistic (Southampton seem to be our go to club at the moment as a stepping stone to step from) I just don't think Hassenhutl would be a big enough statement from the club though.

Massive questions over Dyche, he would be a big gamble as we just don't know what he'd do with a decent budget. Would he go on to great things? Or be lost without the pressure (or lack of pressure depending on how you look at it) of a shoestring budget?

There's just nobody else I see that hasn't been mentioned above that I could see us getting. Shame Rafa isn't available as I'd have been all over him.  Big no to Lampard, an absolute hideous record in management. Potter a possibility but I'm not that impressed by him.

So it'll be someone from abroad, who? I don't know. I'll leave that to the European experts as I have limited knowledge.

Mark Robins? Probably a left field choice but the job he has done at Coventry is remarkable and I do think he could make the step up management wise, probably end up at Burnley when Dyche leaves.

If the unthinkable happened and we ended up in a relegation battle with Chris Davis and Kolo at the helm with us struggling to hire we simply would parachute big Nige in. I mean literally parachute him in, full military camo attire from 15,000ft landing on Sea Grave and taking bodies.

Give Bristol a few million for their trouble.

Easy.
