Extracting this from the Brendan Rodgers thread as it'll be interesting to see what people's feelings are about this.

We all know we'll win one or two we don't expect to and lose one or two we don't expect to, due to lady luck and chance, but generally, what are your feelings on points out of the next games for an optimistic scenario and a realistic scenario.

Next 12 games are:
H Newcastle

H Spurs

A Everton

A Man City

H Liverpool

H Norwich

A Burnley

H Brighton

A Liverpool

H West Ham

A Wolves

A Chelsea

I think optimistically we can get DDLLLWDWLLLL which results in 9 points.  Realistically it'll be LLLLLWLDLLLL with maybe one or two of those L turning into a D if we're lucky (perhaps Newcastle (Eddie Howe now has them playing more confidently), Burnley and Wolves) so I'll say 6 points.

I'd genuinely love to hear what kind of results people are expecting us to get from those 12 games. I realise that surprises happen (we may lose at home to Norwich, or may beat Man City away) but they even out. Our form is atrocious and we're getting worse. Go on - give us your optimistic and realistic expectations of those games and we can look back with amusement in February.

Bonus point, Rodgers to be sacked after we draw at home to Brighton ;-)

Normally we get these threads when we’re playing well and winning all the time and the emergence of the thread spells the beginning of the end.

Perhaps this will work in reverse this time?

16. Mid-table return for a mid-table side.

I think 18 points

Win against Newcastle, Everton, Norwich, Burnley, Brighton

Draw against Spurs, West Ham, Wolves

Lose against Man City, Liverpool (H) and (A) and Chelsea.

Or perhaps 17 if we lose against West Ham.

Ambitious, I know...

But goes to show the inconsistency of the side but also the difficulty of the games coming up.

As @coolhandfox says, it won't go like stated above - who knows, we might win against Man City and lose

against Brighton...

Difficult to know what "realistic" means, given how we're currently underperforming our potential.

But, taking "realistic" to mean continuing to perform as we have this season and "optimistic" to mean playing to our potential.....

Next 12 games are:      Realistic                            Optimistic
H Newcastle                       D*                                         W

H Spurs                              D                                           W

A Everton                           W                                           W

A Man City                          L                                            L

H Liverpool                         L                                            L

H Norwich                          D                                            W

A Burnley                            L                                            W

H Brighton                         W                                           W

A Liverpool                         L                                            L

H West Ham                      D                                            W

A Wolves                            L                                            D

A Chelsea                          L                                             L

                               *(due to Napoli)

So, that's a "realistic" haul of 10 points on current form - and an "optimistic" haul of 22 points if we get our act together......the difference between finishing 15th and 6th-7th if expanded to the whole season?

Come on lads - and BR - get it together!

Definitely less than 36.  Possibly more than 0.

Last season I would have been hopeful of getting 20 points from those games.  This season my expectations are lower.

Less than 14 and Brendan will be gone.

Sounds about right. I think on the realistic side change one of the draws to a win (say Norwich) and one of the losses to a draw (say Wolves) which makes 13 points.
On the optimistic side i think when on form we would draw or win one of the 4 games against the big 3, so maybe put Liverpool (H) as a draw making optimistic hall of 23 points.

Our form and opposite form could be massively different by the end of the 12 game run but I'll give it a go anyway:

Next 12 games are:
H Newcastle 1

H Spurs 3

A Everton 0

A Man City 1

H Liverpool 0

H Norwich 3

A Burnley 3

H Brighton 1

A Liverpool 1

H West Ham 1

A Wolves 3

A Chelsea 1

18 points from 36

1 point and relegation.

Realist right here!

I have got 12, 1 PPG, verging on the side of caution

H Newcastle - W

H Spurs - D

A Everton - L

A Man City - L

H Liverpool - L

H Norwich - W

A Burnley - W

H Brighton - D

A Liverpool - L

H West Ham - L

A Wolves - D

A Chelsea - L

W3 D3 L6 - grim, but there are some tough matches in there. Also could easily see us doing Everton at Goodison and getting all 3 points at home to Brighton which makes it 16 and a lot more palatable.

But it will be totally acceptable because we were worse 30 years ago.

I've tried to put my demoralised, frustrated demeanor to one side and unfortunately I can only come up with 9 i'm afraid.

Obviously the points will come whenever but my prediction of 9 largely rests on us beating Newcastle this coming week if not 9 becomes 6 in 11.

I genuinely think December will see us pick up a maximum of 4-6 points over the next 5 league games. Then we lose Wilf, Iheanacho, Amartey and possibly Lookman. Mendy also can't be reintroduced as he's away too. So the run of 3 easier games vs Norwich, Burnley and Brighton are hugely crucial for Rodgers. Don't win 2 of those and we could well be in about 15th/16th spot and I think he'll be seriously in the shit.

The most shocking thing about this thread are the folk thinking we will get a draw V West Ham…. Probably the only team that have genuinely torn us a new arsehole this season lol

H Newcastle - L

H Spurs - L

A Everton - D

A Man City - L

H Liverpool - L

H Norwich - W

A Burnley - D

H Brighton - W

A Liverpool - L

H West Ham - L

A Wolves - D

A Chelsea - L

Probably one win, Norwich, and a couple of draws, Newcastle and Burnley, although all 3 of those teams will see us as the team to take points off. 5 from 36

That should see Rodgers and the next two managers sacked. At least we will get to play Forest and Derby next season

And to think, people were actually worried about Rodgers going to Man Utd.....Man Utd....as if that was ever going to happen in a million years.
