Lose this and even Newcastle will be only 6 points behind us and, with an absolutely horrendous set of fixtures over coming weeks, by the end of the month we could have a lot more to worry about than dropping into the European Vauxhall Conference.

That means that all teams below us win while we lose. It's not going to happen.

You can point out our fixtures but after the game on Sunday Newcastle have got Liverpool then Man City then Man Utd and then Everton.

I realise that. Not saying we'll be in the bottom 3 but if Watford win tonight we'll be 3 points ahead of 17th. The table is really tight this season.

It's tight aside from the top three who are comfortably better than the other 17 teams.

That's why it's so easy for me to go in the opposite direction to you and say if we win on Sunday, and Villa lose (to Liverpool) and Wolves lose (to Man City), we will 8th, a point behind Arsenal who play West Ham (and West Ham are more than capable of beating Arsenal).

Id be tempted to mix this up and get some energy into the midfield by swapping Hamza for Ndidi. Theyre both shite on the ball so its not like we’re losing Ndidi’s technical ability. Predicament with KDHs emergence is where to play Maddison as it is a complete waste of time sticking him

on the wing. Soyuncu must be dropped for this as he cannot deal with Wilson as hes shown in previous meetings.

Schemical

Castagne Evans Amartey (if fit) Thomas

Hamza

Tielemans Maddison

Albrighton Vardy Barnes

KDH to come on 2nd half

Fair point. I just have no confidence in the team at the moment, even against a team bottom of the league with 1 win in 17.

Never been so sure of a loss before. 0-4

I don't gamble, but if I was wandering past a bookies I'd be lobbing money on Newcastle to score three or four.

Which is fair enough. I don't really have confidence in the players or manager at the minute.

Just highlighting how it could go both ways though.

We'll get a man sent off in this and lose.

Exactly. And the sending off will come from our decision to play a high line but mess up the offside trap because someone decides not to step up.

If that happens it will be a case of 'All night, all drinkin'...birds, none of 'um' for me.

2-0 win. Heard it here first

I really hope you are right. I'm resigned to us not having a special season, but I really don't fancy having a nervy one where we are constantly looking over our shoulder.

I don’t care what the score is as long as part of it is ‘Newcastle - 0’. With that in mind, and subject to availability, I’d start with

Ward (OK it’ll be Schmeichel!)

Castagne Amartey Evans Vestergaard Thomas

Perez Tielemans Ndidi Albrighton

Daka

If we can keep Newcastle to ‘0’ we can look at bringing on the likes of Barnes & Maddison to finish it…

We can start with Arthur Chandler for all I care. It’s about our mindset and confidence right now rather than the lineup or tactics.

I did have this pegged as a win, but with the squad decimated by covid and players basically playing 4 games in 10/11 days. It could go any way.

I'm not sure covid and the amount of games can be used as an excuse when we most likely will concede at least one goal from a corner/set piece. We are hideous and no covid outbreak or amount of games can hide that fact!

We need to win. Yes a clean sheet would be nice but a 5-4 win is preferable to a 0-0 draw.

KDH over Barnes and you have it.I really rate Barnes but he is awful presently .Accept he has scored a couple of goals but he looks a poor imitation of the Barnes pre injury last season.
