Don't agree with half of that statement.

More defenders =/= a more solid defence. Its been said time after time, throwing in an extra CB doesn't make your team harder to score against.

Being well organised, having players who understand their roles, having good shape across the back and good cover from the midfield is how you defend and we've nearly always done our best at that with a four.

Yeah, that back four is hideous, but we're lacking so many defenders that to make it a five would mean putting in more square pegs anyway. Better to make it a four and cover it with three defensively conscious midfielders which is what he's done.

Against Liverpool, with the players we have available, it’s crazy. We know they will overload the flanks, but our system isn’t going to offer much protection to the full backs.

Schmeichel

Castagne - Ndidi - Amartey - Thomas

Hamza

KDH - Soumare

Maddison

Iheanacho - Vardy

I think it'll be Soumare that sits as Hamza has no positional sense.

Apart from Robertson that’s their strongest line up. I fear for us tonight.

Me too. But how do teams like Norwich or Leeds or Watford cope?

None of them have players the calibre of Vards, Kels, Timmy, Madders and Wilf.....and even Amartey and KDH amd Bouba are likely to make those sort of teams

Don’t want to see a single negative comment about Hamza if he gets sent off, after seeing over 1000 comments asking him to crunch them

Genuinely wouldn't care. Would only be annoyed if he gets sent off without hurting one of their lot badly.

Is VVD properly fit though?

Same with Harry when Utd came(although he's nowhere near the same level) but he might lack match sharpness.

Clutching at straws😄

Im going for 2-8

Players out of position, players that can't concentrate, players unfit. It'll be a massacre at the back.

Maddisons form should ensure we create a few chances at the other end though.

Liverpool were particularly over aggressive the other day, glad we have three in midfield plus two behind them with a bit of bite, could get tasty but remember rule 17 sub section 4;- "If games become heated and physical, let the "big 6" club off and card the other side, particularly if a toothy guy with Bratwurst breath requests you do so".

I hate the whole buying the ref thing (I don't mean literally but then again...) but it's time we did a bit more to stick up for ourselves, you play Utd and Fernandez is co-referee for 90 minutes, you play Liverpool and it's Henderson and Klopp, I don't like it but we need to at least apply for equal attention. I don't think many or any of them saw the tackle on Ricardo but if they had I'd expect things to have kicked off particularly as they've watched his slow hard fought recovery from injury. You look at Arsenal, West Ham, Man Utd and they have a pack mentality, going after officials and opponents en mass, we just seem to have Kasper or Vardy being verbal, we're too nice, too honest.

Can't see Salah not scoring, best hope a 1-1, the counter side of having that midfield bite is we don't have much goal threat out there, the two strikers, Madders and KDH at times. And who is tracking arguably the best pair of attacking full backs in the league? Our full backs will be busy helping against their front three, if we have no width we'll need Maddison and KDH to do a hell of a lot of work.

Don’t ask why but I have a good feeling about this game. Hope Rogers delivers a Fergie style backs to the wall/ya against the world team talk! Give em hell boys! :chant:

He only had a mild dose of covid didn't  he?

The same could be said of Vardy, Ndidi and Soumare, all of whom were not fit to start against Man City just two days ago.. If Vardy's hamstring goes we have virtually no cover up front with Daka out for a month and Afcon around the corner. I wonder if all three will last the full 90?

With that line up, we need God. Such a weird feeling today. Not excited but actual dread for the game.
