Yeah he definitely wont be winning any headers from all the crosses we put in

I wouldn't be too concerned about that as most goals come from crosses below waist height (this is where you quote stats to disprove ). Other than corners or set pieces where headed goals most often come from centre-backs.

I reckon Moore was being sarcastic....

I agree with you but unfortunately as fats and stephy play on the opposite wings to

their strongest foot, they are more inswinging crosses that they provide unless they beat their man to the line and cut across them.

Still not a single incoming rumour from a reputable source aside from Begovic… the very few links we do have are all basically D tier.

Still think we will do nothing except possibly a few PL cast off loans close to the deadline if we are able to shift out a few more.

Yea, think I might pass on this one.

That's iffy, is it because the league he's in is not compiled and this is a small sample size in Europe last season?

Exclusive: Leicester City & Coventry City eyeing up moves for £3m-rated Sturm Graz striker William Bøving

Ben Wignall

Leicester City and Coventry City are both plotting moves for Sturm Graz striker William Bøving before Monday’s transfer deadline, sources have exclusively told Football League World.

The days and hours are ticking down until the summer window slams shut, and it’s likely that some EFL clubs will be vying for the same targets at this very late stage.

And that is the case for two Midlands rivals, who are both looking into the possibility of adding the same centre-forward to their ranks ahead of 7pm on Monday.

Leicester City and Coventry City eye William Bøving raid

LW has been told that Leicester and Coventry are both eyeing up Danish striker William Bøving, who could be available for around the £3 million mark, but there are also unnamed Spanish clubs in the mix.

The 22-year-old, who played 18 times for his country’s under-21’s side, moved to Sturm Graz of Austria in 2022 from Copenhagen, having played 44 matches for them in all competitions prior to his exit.

Bøving has developed into a regular fixture in Sturm Graz's attack over the last three years, although it took him until the 2024-25 campaign to start finding the back of the net, having only scored three goals in 45 Austrian Bundesliga matches in his first two seasons.

Last season though, Bøving bagged 11 times in 30 domestic outings, as well as notching a further eight assists to be one of Sturm Graz's leading lights in their title-winning campaign - their second in succession after also being triumphant in 2023-24.

With less than one year remaining on his contract though, Bøving could be heading out of the exit door of the Merkur Arena before Monday's English transfer deadline - although Austria's is still open until September 5.

Leicester City and Coventry City's current striker situations amid William Bøving chase
Leicester City manager Marti Cifuentes
Out of the two clubs, it is Leicester who look to be more in desperate need of a new number nine.

Foxes head coach Marti Cifuentes currently only has two strikers on his books in the form of Jordan Ayew and Patson Daka - neither of who have scored yet in the Championship so far this season, and fresh blood is being sought after to give City a boost in the final third.

As for Coventry, goals are no problem to them right now, having fired in 12 of them in their previous two league matches against Derby County and QPR, but with Ellis Simms disappointing last season and Brandon Thomas-Asante currently occupying the right-wing position for Frank Lampard, Haji Wright is carrying a big burden as the lone front-man.

Bøving could help to ease the workload on the USA international, but Coventry won't have it easy if they are battling Leicester for the Danishman's services.

As Ric said, those stats are seriously skewed mate, comparing him to actual strikers, he is a far better creator, dribbler and ball carrier than those stats suggest.

But while at Sturm Graz, he’s played mostly in a front two, with him being the one who tends to drop, involves himself in the play and operates pretty much like a false nine/support striker.

Yep.

iirc fbref does top 5 leagues and continental competition.

To add, he got 16 goal contributions (11+5) in 24 lots of 90 last season.

Playing in Austria and Denmark it's the only time he's exceeded 0.15 goals per 90 minutes having made his debut 5 years ago.

Those percentiles are warped but I wouldn't describe him as the most exciting player we've ever been linked to.

Contract up next summer so likely be even cheaper than usual. Sturm Graz have had a very prolific period of producing strikers that go on to excel in other European leagues.

Seeing £3m being banded around?

I don’t hate it for that price, but not convinced he’s the 15 goal striker we need

I know football isn't as simple as comparing him with Daka but it doesn't feel good.

Lateral thinking by our recruitment

doing it the generally accepted way didn’t work

He's a support striker by the way, very much a link man than a number 9. I'd put him as more of a Ayoze Perez type player if I were to liken him to a previous player but with different strengths and weaknesses.

I suppose a bit like Ayew then?
