AKCJ Posted 16 June 2025 Posted 16 June 2025 He'd be cheap and an option off the bench. Scored a belter of a goal against us a couple of years ago.
Stadt Posted 16 June 2025 Posted 16 June 2025 Scored 3 non penalty goals in 29 starts for Preston last year. Not even good enough as back up 2

We already have bench options for striker in Daka, Evans and Ayew (and sadly Greenwood isn't an upgrade on any of them). If we sign a striker it needs to be a starter, no more sub par 'options off the bench'! 1

Fox92 Posted 16 June 2025 Posted 16 June 2025 Didn't he score that free kick against us other year when we lost at Middlesbrough. I'd be disappointed if we end up with him.
rico Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 (edited) Linked with him, 1 year left on his contract at Leeds, can play in midfield or as striker Edited 17 June 2025 by rico
DezFox Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 More inportantly than ever this year, we don’t need to sign squad players, that’s all we have. I would rather sign 2 players and they both improve first 11. No better than what we have. Isn’t particularly young so I know it happens but he is more unlikely to have some random untapped talent or ceiling we are not aware of. Massive no from me.
BKLFox Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 Do we realise we won’t be signing a ready made starting striker, does anyone see us dropping £20m+ on a single player to lead the line? So would we rather sign a young lad for £1.5m who has potential whilst still being fairly experienced of the league etc or 1 of those names who’s already 26+ but been a steady player for a championship side or squad player in low end premier club for £10m+ and just becomes a steady player for us? Daka will lead the line at the start of next season unless sold, better to have hungry young lads fighting to replace him than just bringing that £10m steady Eddie on 🤷♂️

Only two Championship clubs signed strikers for £10+ million last season, Cannon from us to Sheff Utd and Crnac to Norwich. I’d be looking in the same price bracket that Middlesbrough paid for Latte Lath and Conway, and Sunderland paid for Isidor. Of course there’s always the possibility of signing another Tom Cannon, but finding a starting Championship calibre striker is doable in the £5 million bracket.

Didn’t Cov sign Gyökeres for something around the £1.5m mark from Brighton who spent somewhere around a £1m on him from his hometown club. Point being, they’re out there. We’ve just got to be competent enough to identify who they are. 2

I look at Millwall last season signing Mihalio Ivanovic for under £3 million, double figures in goals, and if he continues to develop, will probably go for triple or quadruple of what they paid for him. We just have to find the striker equivalent of Hermansen.
JimJams Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 Amoura at Wolfsburg is a good example. Loaned from Union SG for about €3m, with a €15m option. He smashed it, signed up, he's now worth way more. Would have loved him here, but well out of our price range/league now.
VLC86 Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 The players might be out there, but this planning would have had to have been started months ago to convince anyone half decent to join us and we all know that’s not going to have been happening. Our manager doesn’t even know if he’s our manager 1
Lambert09 Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 I think what’s alarming is that our transfers style has been shifting so much. we’ve gone from looking for undervalued gems- to top level proven players and now we’ve shifted to our bargain basement phase, who’s free or on the last year of their contract. It doesn’t make sense to me that Greenward could genuinely have any stats that have attracted us 1

Of course depends who our manager is and what he expects from a striker, but Hogh is definitely someone I’m keeping tabs on, his goalscoring data at the start of this season and last season have been quality. Aune Heggebo is another one that is intriguing me from the Eliteserien. 1
Jattdogg Posted 17 June 2025 Posted 17 June 2025 I've got a friend who kicks a tennis ball around. Might be a diamond in the rough. Gerrimin.
Bert Posted 18 June 2025 Posted 18 June 2025 Not a transfer rumour at all, but was just thinking about Callum Wilson? On a free, although wages would be crazy which is the biggest red flag, if we could sign him and keep him injury free he’d be perfect for us.

It’s a bit like having Ricardo, he’s a proper proven player but might only play 15 games
