Every season a team finishes like a train. Could be us with players returning.

I think the best we can hope for is 7th with a UCL win to send us into europe.

I think you are right, we have got some form and gaining confidence… wouldn’t surprise me if we get top 10 finish and win the ECL. Would make for a very good season from what was looking average

I thought Mendy had a very good game today. Tidied up and kept us ticking over. How on earth he wasn’t in the PL 25 before Christmas is beyond me

....probably the coaching he received playing for Senegal, improved his awareness on the pitch, because prior to this he had one foot out the door!!!

I thought there were times where a more petty official might have dished out bookings and that he generally let the match  flow. I didn’t really notice him as an influence on the game which was quite refreshing

Brentford lads were rolling and screaming quite a lot.

I can't recall which one of them it was, but one of the Brentford players did that whole "My injury is so horrendous that I'm slapping the ground to detract from the near amputation I've suffered" thing, before getting a minute of treatment, showily limping into the box and then running perfectly well 1 minute later.

Then there's Maddison.  I love him and he seems an intelligent and pleasant young man, and his goal was a thing of beauty, but he  dived to win the free kick he scored from, and he jumped into opponents' legs to claim a foul several times after.

Refs have got less of a chance if that stuff is  going on.

It's a moral dilemma.  I hate that Madders does that stuff, but love the benefits we get from it!

I really do think that we have turned a corner. The performances are so much better. We defend more aggressively. The passing is quicker and accurate, and we are even looking much better defensively.

There’s no doubt we under performed with all the injuries etc, having said that we could yet finish strongly and post a very respectable league position if we finish strongly. And I dare say at our strongest we are the best side left in the Euro Conference Vase.

I do wonder how much of our problems was down to a lack of competition for places. Now there is genuine competition for places, and it seems to have given everyone a spring in their step. Only human nature for levels to drop a bit if you are almost guaranteed to play every week because there is no one else available?

Shout-out Mendy, thought he ran the midfield really well today against a side with their backs up at times.

Yes we overcomplicated it for ourselves but I won't lie - that's the most comfortable I've felt at 2-1 up with 5 to go in a long time.

Regardless of the rest of you having kittens, getting a double over these was nice. We're really not that bad a team. :P

There was a great battle at one point between Pinnock and Iheanacho in the 2nd half, both getting ahead of each other for the ball, holding each other off etc., lino puts his flag up calling a foul by Nacho and ruins it

Also the ref booked KDH for what looked to be just a very good strong tackle?

First half we were fantastic. Second half we came out a shadow of ourselves. We seemed like we had already thought we’d won the game. Two fantastic goals that you could watch again and again. Great performances from Schmeichel (Get rid lol) who made some amazing saves to keep us in it and Mendy who I thought was brilliant today, I just wish we could morph him and Wilf together.

Amazing to have Evans (Soyuncu almost instantly turned into a better player) and Castagne back, gives a boost to the rest of the squad and the fans. Felt a bit sorry for Iheanacho who did pretty much everything right apart from score.

We made it hard work for ourselves in the second half and the goal was avoidable, hate how easily we seem to be able to switch off in the manner that we do.

A win is win, there’s nothing worse than going into an international on a defeat. Time to get the lads a bit of R&R and get ready for that final push.

Fatigue both mental and physical after Thursday was a factor second half. Playing against a better side and we may have been in trouble.

I thought that was a great performance today, obviously after Thursday night, we tired towards the end of the game, but really controlled the first hour and should and could have been 3 or 4 up.
Amartey ans Soyuncu are building a great partnership at the back now, with some added quality from Castagne.

A couple of moments at the back stood out for me, where Castagne battled and used his experience to prevent Brentford getting corners, something we have missed, and led to goals against.

KDH was everywhere and Madders looks full of confidence at the moment.
Iheanacho, was fantastic and probably should have had a goal to his name for his efforts.

On to the international break and hopefully look forward to seeing a team with a fully fit back line to chose from and Jamie Vardy up front

14 points off both top six and bottom 6.

With 2 or 3 matches in hand on most teams in the league as well.

Hardly been a vintage year but a top half finish and a good run in the UECL would represent a decent-ish season

And a top 8 finish and winning the thing could be considered (dare I say it) a good season

I think Fofana was the biggest loss of the season. He is that good! He will be one of the best CB’s in the world. He has everything. He’s probably the one to avoid standing next to in the shower too 🤔

JJ was a massive loss too! The midfield will be better with a decent defense behind them also.

We look like a team again!

Arsenal have 0 European trophies, puts it into perspective how winning one, no matter the prestige, is massive for most clubs and would be huge for us
