Soumare looked good for them when he came on

He comes on and strolls about like he should be carrying his golf clubs...

I don't sing his praises often but I thought Nacho was excellent. Hold up play, link up... did everything but score (still not quite sure how he missed)

Got far too close at the end for no reason.

We need to get out of this awful "Oh shit we're winning, let's attempt to shut up shop" nonsense. We are so bad at it and even more so with a weakened backline.

The only way you can guarantee it not going in your own net is if its down the other end going in theirs.

Made a meal out of that in the end after a comfortable 80 minutes, but main thing is we got the 3 points and looked more solid overall.

Thought Nacho was great today, probably motm for me

Vital win but we made such hard work of it. Poor finishing and tiredness second half or a lack of real ambition to finish them off? How a tired and lacklustre Barnes stayed on with a fresh Lookman on the bench I can't quite understand.

We didn’t do that. We just missed chances while Brentford were better going forward.

2nd half was very laboured, the system had very little joy and yet he opted not to change it which was a surprise.

Job done though. Hopefully no injuries and regroup over the next 2 weeks.

Iheanacho led the line brilliantly and Castagne and Justin were brilliant.

Just needed to put away that chance to cap it. :appl:

MOTM ….  Nacho ? ..  KDH? …. Timmy ?? …. take yer pick.  Good performances all over.

And surely we can’t let Papy go ….   love the little man and a brilliant stand in for Wilf.

How long does he have on his contract? Is it up this season or does he have another year? We should keep him I agree.

What's happened to Soumare? He looked decent in the first 10-15 games of the season, but he looks awful at the moment. Lack of game time isn't helping but to be fair to Rodgers, it's easy to see why KDH and Mendy are ahead of him. I can see him being loaned back to France next season if this form keeps up, he looks like a poor signing, even though we know there's a good player in there.

In games like today, Mendy is actually a better player than Wilf, because he keeps us ticking over when we don't need a destroyer to win the ball back for us.

Lookman was not on the bench today. Seems like he is either ill or injured.

Great goals, great three points after our battle on Thursday but as usual we end a game getting battered. A better side would have taken at least a point, and considering that Brentford have struggled the performance in the second half was poor. But we won the match and thats all that matters. 3 wins in 4 premier league games.

Where were Lookman, Fofana and Ricardo? Just rested?

Wondered about Lookman's reaction to being substituted against Rennes. I know we had others back today, but not any of them even on the bench....?

Because there wasn't a Lookman on the bench ;)

Agreed though, Barnes looked out of form / shagged.

Spot on! Does not offer much (or as much) defensively, but certainly helps keep that midfield flowing
