Promising signs - nice to see us trying to do something different by leaving 3 up at their corners.

With Wilf now out, Mendy plays when we have most of the possession and I would have Amartey CDM if we need to break up the play - anything to keep him away from RB.

That would be pretty funny actually, because Dan is a hardened stopper now. I'm sure he could still do a decent job as a defensive midfielder, especially against more physical sides, he has had good games for us playing there.

The opposition midfielders would be a bit scared of him rampaging about in front of the back four, I should imagine. But I guess Soumare will get first dibs after Mendy.

Fatigue both mental and physical after Thursday was a factor second half. Playing against a better side and we may have been in trouble.

....we are still a team that does not do 90 minutes, I felt that the second half would be less successful!!!

Name a team you have watched regularly that is on and at it for the whole 90 minutes…

I'm not too concerned about our ability to score goals as long as we keep our best defenders fit, if we do that then eventually we will get back to more expensive play. He's eventually had to concede we've had to go more robust in recent weeks to try and out work and fight teams for results.

But I agree, right now we look quite limited in our attacks and if we were playing us each week we'd point out that they were fortunate to get the wins having created very little expect individual moments of brilliance from 25-30 yards.

This seasons a dead rubber though now and could be used as a time to experiment with different formations and different pairings. Not just sticking one up front and hoping someone scores a worldie

With 3 games in hand on West Ham and Wolves we could conceivably still end up 7th, I don't think we will but it's definitely not a dead rubber.

Imagine come the end of the season if we missed out on 7th by a couple of points because he fancied a bit of a mix up in games like yesterday, he'd get a battering on here.

Yeah true enough I suppose

I just don’t think we’ll finish 7th with how we currently play anyway, as per my original  post. We’re not dangerous enough with just Ian or Daka up top alone

First half we were fantastic. Second half we came out a shadow of ourselves. We seemed like we had already thought we’d won the game. Two fantastic goals that you could watch again and again. Great performances from Schmeichel (Get rid lol) who made some amazing saves to keep us in it and Mendy who I thought was brilliant today, I just wish we could morph him and Wilf together.

Amazing to have Evans (Soyuncu almost instantly turned into a better player) and Castagne back, gives a boost to the rest of the squad and the fans. Felt a bit sorry for Iheanacho who did pretty much everything right apart from score.

We made it hard work for ourselves in the second half and the goal was avoidable, hate how easily we seem to be able to switch off in the manner that we do.

A win is win, there’s nothing worse than going into an international on a defeat. Time to get the lads a bit of R&R and get ready for that final push.

Agree with the first part of the bit in bold but I thought Soyuncu was great all game yesterday. Arguably his best game of the season.

For the first hour we were in complete control but then the impact of our injury ravaged season kicked in. We had to sub Castagne as it was his first game in months. Thomas, his natural replacement, must have been knackered, having been forced to play every few days for weeks due to other absences, was left on the bench. That meant Big Dan had to play at RB which stalled any thrust down that side. KDH had to come off too as again we've had to play him so much due to not being able to rotate. Barnes also looked out on his feet after recent efforts and Thursday's intense match but had to stay on as Lookman was missing.

So given all of that it was no surprise that Brentford came back into a bit for the last 25/30 minutes, allowing Frank to claim they were somehow unlucky again. lol He also said that we wouldn't be so fortunate to get 3 worldies against them next season, which is a bit presumptuous as they are far from safe as yet. Hopefully he has tempted fate there, the salty t****r!!

Vardy is back in a couple of weeks....

We are starting to get a squad back right at the right time of the season.

7th should be the target in the league.

Actually thought his comments were mostly fair this time round, he did concede that we outplayed them in the first half. Where he is wrong though, and I think MOTD2 highlighted this, is that allowing us so much time and space at the edge of the area probably meant we took on more longer shots than normal. They were completely outplayed first half and I thought we were very comfortable for most of the game. Once we had the 2-0 lead we were always going to sit back a bit more, especially after having played a tough game on Thursday.

They're abit salty. Their hatred for maddison is fantastic. Imagine how mad they'll be when vardy scores past them in peak shithouse mode.

I get we play in Europe and we'll tire in games and that we were 2-0 up. But I'd rather we just tried to keep the ball and do the boring pass around stuff then than invite pressure on for 45 minutes. They were pretty poor overall. But against an actual decent side it just doesn't work.

Very good in spells, poor in others. It's a good win considering how tough it was on Thursday. The international break has come at a very good time for us. Hopefully we can get a few more players back and finish the season strongly!

i tend to agree..

Over These 2 seasons its too much of a coincidence that we Keep consistently Fading Late in the game...

Even when the 2nd half itself ,at times has ended up being our better Part of some games..I

I cant remember when we last had a 3-5 game span, where we have strung even a mixed 70minutes of Top concentrated Football together...

I for one cannot believe that Thomas Frank doesn’t think they didn’t deserve to lose lol

Hahaha to be fair his comments yesterday were much more reasonable.

thought we looked a lot more intelligent than brentford in regards to the ‘craftsmanship’ required in the PL. we’ve looked a bit too honest previously. there was a time where toney took a hit in the second half, 20 yards from goal and stayed up, madders would have been calling for the oxygen and then got up and scored. fine margins

Is it me or do we lack a bit of ruthlessness..2  - 0 up Liverpool kill off their opponents

I have to admit it looks like calgar soyuncu gas got his act together

Nacho chip goes in and we probably do, add to that Justin taking it off Nacho toe and Barnes miss contorl in the box when he has a easy finish with better control.

Could have easily been 3 up before Brentford scored.

We aren't Liverpool, we do not have their strength on the bench to come on and kill off teams when they are getting tired.

The players were running on fumes by the last 20 mins yesterday which is hardly surprising.

This International break couldnt have come at a better time.

Yeah we don’t kill games out very well. We’re naive in that respect. The same thing happened against Rennes (although that was a different circumstance given the atmosphere, what was on the line etc.). We just don’t seem to be able to put the ball in the corner and keep it there or box teams into a certain area. When we’re closing the game out we go into a deep block to protect the space in behind but it just invites wave after wave. I’d love to see us be more aggressive in how we set up and force teams to go long rather than have their back 4 on the half way line and us camped on the edge of our box.
