Best Atmosphere at a Leicester home game

Fair to say we have an absolutely huge game coming up this week, and a great atmosphere really can make all the difference in a game like this. So what is it that makes a great atmosphere? What is the best atmosphere you can remember at Leicester home game, either the KP or Filbert Street? Can we replicate it on Thursday?

For me I remember thousands of blue and white balloons at Filbert Street, ripped up copies of the Sporting Green - much better when this became the Sporting Blue all being released as the players came out of the tunnel. 
During the warm-up in the old Kop singing every players name.

Sunderland in the league cup semi final sticks in my memory as a great atmosphere and a game where we willed the lads to Wembley, all of the play-off semis over the years, Cambridge was amazing. Wasn’t there for any of the Champions League games, but those who were say they were some of the best nights at the KP.

Seville last 16 champions league....game had everything ....2 nil up on the night so 2   1 on aggregate. Vardy suckers Nasri into a reaction that leads to a red card...2 nil up against 10 men..quarter finals beckoning then concede a penalty...Kasper to the rescue with great save.....still in the ground 20 mins after full time everyone singing and waving flags....best night ever

I know its a thread about home atmosphere but I have to give a shout out to our end at the Stadium of Light in the first leg, we took silly numbers up there and won't forget the servers behind the food kiosks saying they hadn't heard noise like it since they had moved to the new stadium.

What a night that was, spine tingling noise at times and felt like we would score every time we went forward and the weather just perfect.

 

I remember the season after, a few home games against the likes of Newcastle, Wolves and Derby produced noise every bit as good as anything ive heard at the KP.

Well ok.... Maybe the Cambridge play off semi final. It still sticks in my mind today, but then nearly every game at Filbo had a better atmosphere then the best atmospheres at the KP.

 

A few in the title winning season were a bit special though: Vardy Liverpool match maybe? Our atmosphere was pretty good, in modern terms, towards the end of 2014/15 season and the 15/16 season. It's a shame we've not managed to keep it going.

Yes, that Cambridge game has lived long in my memory too.

 

Also Liverpool at home in that season. And Swansea, when Vards couldn’t play and we won 4-0 and at one point the whole stadium was on its feet simply applauding the miracle unfolding before us.

Sevilla or the Liverpool 3-3 at Filbert St. April 1984.

 

I also recall it being pretty manic when Kingy scored against West Ham in April 2015. 

 

The loudest goal celebration I think I've ever heard at the KP was Slimani vs Porto.

Thread is meant to be for good memories and great atmospheres. Don't get me wrong we know the club haven't acted in many fans' best interests but leave it for those other threads...?

Its a fair point though though.

 

For you though Stan, Porto was unreal at the top of SK1. Was too pissed for Sevilla and an honourable mention for the Man United 5.3

 

Wigan and Rennes kop end sections were outstanding.

Yeah that’s the one that sprang to mind for me, Cambridge playoff semi final.

Special mention for Southampton at home in the title winning season. Despite an early KO the noise for the last ten minutes was incredible and helped to bring home the 3 points.

Sevilla the best but I thought the Atletico game had perhaps the most intense spell when the team were hammering the goal.

 

"Come on Leicester!" booming around the stadium.

There was a great moment on about the 89th minute in this game where after pushing for about 20 mins or so on the Atleti goal, we missed a chance which felt like the final one. 


The crowd then responded with a standing ovation as we knew we'd run out of steam... was a pretty cool moment.
