moore_94 Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 Stalwart Schmeichel – one of the few survivors from Leicester’s miracle Premier League title win – is out of contract next summer and is keen to play regular European football. Talks between the 35-year-old club captain and management are due to take place once the season finishes. Newcastle are keen to sign a new number one and are tracking Schmeichel’s situation but the Dane would also be open to a move abroad. https://talksport.com/football/1107978/

Popular Post moore_94 Posted 12 May 2022 Author Popular Post Posted 12 May 2022 Expecting him to end up at a team outside of the “big leagues” (England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain) Portugal, Denmark, Belgium etc. 6
Fox92 Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 He's so close to 500 games for us, which is incredible. I'd love to see him do that. 1
Popular Post AKCJ Posted 12 May 2022 Popular Post Posted 12 May 2022 Can see him going off to Copenhagen, winning a couple of leagues there with a couple of European Cup runs. 13
coolhandfox Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 (edited) If he want's European football then his not going Newcastle. 9 minutes ago, Fox92 said: He's so close to 500 games for us, which is incredible. I'd love to see him do that. Me too, but a small part of me doesn't want to witness him decline and take a shine of his time here. Would have also like him to have got 100 PL clean sheets, seems unlikely know with him currently on 82. I was expecting him to have around 90 by the end of this season but that hasn't happened with our poor defensive record this season. Bit like Youri, wish he'd have gone a hero last summer rather then this summer after a poor season. Edited 12 May 2022 by coolhandfox 2
Haywood_6 Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 Not had the best season by his standards. Been a great keeper for us though. 11 years is incredible. 3
UniFox21 Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 If he goes to Newcastle I'd be a bit pissed off, as that would clearly be for a payday
Leicester_Loyal Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 Will go abroad with our blessing IMO, next summer feels about the right time, arguably our best ever keeper, definitely the most successful.
RoboFox Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 Depends on what happens next season, but I can see him getting an extension in the way that Morgan and Fuchs did. Strong, experienced heads in the dressing room to help bed new players in. 1
CosbehFox Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 Its Copenhagen for him. Newcastle will be after Pope or Henderson 1
Lambert09 Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 no chance he goes to newcastle. He wants to get a last go at champions league football and fair play.

wattolcfc Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 Wouldn’t be surprised if he went United as backup keeper as Dean Henderson will still be in demand and Tom Heaton is out of contract at the same time as Kasper. If he went he would get all of the cup games plus some early European games which would suit him seeing as it is his boyhood club. If that was the case I’d love us to sign Henderson as a replacement, if we can’t get Pope.
kingfox Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 As we know, numerous players are out of contract in 2023, Kasper’s status intrigues me the most. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him stay for another year and see his contract out, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if he moves on this summer and we get some cash for him. Some decent keepers are also out of contract in 2023, Nick Pope being one of them. A simple question of, do we change the goalkeeper situation this summer, or hold off till next summer?

I don’t think Rodgers has the bottle to sell him against his will, so a lot will depend on Kasper. If he is open to going and we get an offer, I’m sure it’ll be accepted. I just hope we have options lined up to replace him and don’t leave it too late. Pope/Henderson have to be the main two choices.
Bluefoxtim Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 "Wants to leave for European football".... Newcastle aren't in Europe. Go figure. 1

StanSP Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 I don't want him to leave IF he does, I hope it's to a side we won't play much i.e. European team. I think he goes back to Copenhagen. Still likely to play European football with them. Doesn't need to be a huge club at his age. 1

Pope/Henderson have to be the main two choices. You fully expect Tielemans & Soyuncu to leave, Kasper is the only one that I can see going either way. A goalkeeper merry-go-round seems inevitable to happen, if not this season, then definitely next. Kasper, Pope and a few others are in the same situation, does the trigger get pulled this summer, or do we hold off for another season...

Popular Post Tielemans63 Posted 12 May 2022 Popular Post Posted 12 May 2022 Didn't his dad go to Sporting Lisbon at a similar stage in his career? Can see Kasper going somewhere like that or to an Italian or Spanish side with European football. One of my favourite ever LCFC players, an absolute club legend in my eyes so he deserves this opportunity imho - if that's what he wants. Don't think he will be as easy to replace as some think. His replacement will have big boots (gloves) to fill as I personally think many fans are so fixated on his weaknesses that they overlook his many strengths and what a consistent performer he is. Losing our captain is huge too. I think we are pretty much all agreed that the team is too nice and we could potentially lose one of the players who has never been shy to give others a bollocking and to say how it is. It's not just the position that would need replacing. 14 1
FerrisBueller Posted 12 May 2022 Posted 12 May 2022 He might not get in at Copenhagen, their keeper Grabara has set a clean sheet record this season
