Lambert09 Posted 20 July 2022 Posted 20 July 2022 On the Chris Richards deal, supposedly FC Dallas get 35%, does this explain why the fee is so low? I swear that when clubs have these type of stipulations they dont care as much about the negotiations. Absolute bargain for palace, he should be going for what we paid for fofana

I think he is just as likely to go a season with about 2 goals as he is to doing what he did at west ham. Very much a form player, so theres a chance that with their tough start he struggles. Annoyingly they have given themselves a very good chance at staying up if they can get all the new additions to click. Edited 20 July 2022 by Lambert09

LFox99 Posted 20 July 2022 Posted 20 July 2022 Spurs fans getting overly excited about that Percy article today saying we need to sell players if we want to buy any and that our wage bill is not sustainable In their minds they've somehow come to the conclusion that we're desperate for money and will (their words) have to sell them Maddison on the cheap for around 40-50m to sort out our finances
MPH Posted 20 July 2022 Posted 20 July 2022 Calvin Bassey has left Rangers for Ajax £19.6m. We let him go to Rangers for peanuts in 2020. Hopefully we got a sell on fee from it..

He left on a free at the end of his contract so as far as I'm aware they'll have paid us some compensation at the time and that's it Edited 20 July 2022 by Guest 4

Rangers got a player who helped them to a European final and made them a massive profit. Bassey and Rangers did well. 3

Spending some serious money They have to, they've just come up and need a team capable of retaining status. Having a Prem capable striker is key. All other teams who simply gone cheap or just kept what they've got over the last 3/4 years of coming up, have crashed back down.

Half their team was on loan too so needed to sign more than average now they e gone back.

Ric Flair Posted 21 July 2022 Posted 21 July 2022 That is absolutely astonishing bit I suppose if they'd offered him £100k a week for 3 years with a relegation release clause and wages reduction clause and £15m signing on fee that nobody would really bat an eyelid and yet its the same overall outlay. 2

adejo92 Posted 21 July 2022 Posted 21 July 2022 Forest really pumping some money in to their survival bid. Suprised that Newcastle haven't made more impact signings given their infinite budget.

It is but it's the precedent it sets. If I were Brennan Johnson I'd be straight on the phone to my agent asking for pay parity. Let's be honest no promoted club can sustainably afford such wages. I'd be amazed if they've managed to insert a relegation release clause, surely Lingard isn't that stupid that he'd accept that knowing full well they are one of the favourites for the drop and this is probably his last big contract. I think this move could send them the way of Derby. There's absolutely no guarantee he'll perform to the levels seen at WHU and Forest certainly don't have anywhere near the same calibre of players in the final third that WHU have. Very very risky move in my opinion.
Nalis Posted 21 July 2022 Posted 21 July 2022 Devils advocate time - we are questioning the finances of Lingard and Forest but does anyone know how much Cambiasso was paid in our first season back up? Would be interesting to compare although football finances have evolved of course.
