Bluearmyfox28 Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 I can see both him and Soyuncu going this summer. Use the money to buy a quality centre back, then promote a youth lad to be 5th choice. 1

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 To be honest if Burnley hadn’t gone down I could of seen them going for him to replace Tarkowski.
indierich06 Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Interesting that we're fine with letting Soumare go too.

Bluearmyfox28 Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 He can’t play in a high line defence. He needs to play deep. I think it was Rennes in the last twenty minutes are line was so deep, yet I think that’s the best cameo I’ve seen him put in for us. 3

StanSP Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 He's marginally better than Ryan Bennett. Just. That's about all I can say that's good about him. Good luck to him but it never really worked out.

There have been lots worse than jannick. just that all of them put together probably cost about the same we paid for him. to be fair I think he is a decent footballer, but not a great defender, which is an issue as a centre back. His lack of pace is the issue for the way we want to play. 2

Tuna Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Funny thing is I didn't really see him play that much but my opinion on him is guided by the posts on here! I thought he'd be a decent signing but it clearly hasn't worked out, if we can get 5 or 6 million for Vestergaard I think it would be decent business. 1
South Shire Fox Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Loaned to a German/Italian team with them paying half his wages is my bet

Dont think anyone saw him play that much, he was either playing statues in the penalty area or sitting on the bench
Fox92 Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Shocking signing all round. I said at the time, if we needed cover for centre half due to injury just use the loan market. That's what it's there for. 1

RoboFox Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Unfathomable signing TBH. It's pretty clear someone at the club has a Southampton fetish, but to sign two of the back four that we pumped nine past was a weird decision in the first place.
Popular Post Haywood_6 Posted 25 May 2022 Popular Post Posted 25 May 2022 I don't think he's terrible and Some of the abuse he's got has been way over the top in my opinion. Some fans just have it in for him. It used to be Nacho until he shut them up and this season it was Vestergaard. It was a bit of a last minute panic buy and the fact of the matter is he's too slow for us. Would never of arrived if it wasn't for the Fofana injury. 6

I find it a bit too reactionary too (Almost childish) although I agree that he was a rushed panic buy, but perhaps fueled not just by Wes' injury but also the uncertainty of Jonny's situation. Always felt it was Jonny's dubious fitness that pushed us towards Vestergaard, as he could bring experience and another CB body (and not just altitude) 2
LFox99 Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Find it odd how much people are slating him. It's not his fault he's looked terrible at times. Stick a CB with well known mobility issues into any side that plays a high line and you'll struggle. 2

kingfox Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 One of the most bizarre signings I’ve seen. Think we only signed him for his ball playing ability. I told you we should have got a stop gap in Gary Cahill
Leicester_Loyal Posted 25 May 2022 Posted 25 May 2022 Another dreadful signing, along with Soumare, really need to step up our recruitment again.
