The thing is with three at the back, it’s best deployed when you have two holding players. So they drop when defending and the centre backs can cover and split. 
 

The wing backs can then offer the width. 
 

The issue with us playing it, is that Barnes is one of our better players. He’s an inside forward / winger. 
 

We have no centre backs. 
 

We don’t have two decent holding players.
