I’ve not been enjoying it for a long time but I’ve still been going and watching.

Rightly or wrongly, I think the fact this game could have sealed his fate changes those opinions.

Its been ramping up all week - Tomorrow would have been a release for a lot of people.

That will all be dampened and calmed down now and probably forgotten by many people come our next game whenever that might be.

Plus the fact he’s likely to have a stay of execution for another 3 or 4 weeks.

I dont think this changes how many games I'm charge he'll have. The reaction to losing at home to forest will be worse than the reaction to losing at home to villa aswell imo. But I don't think he's going for a minimum of another 5 or 6 games yet anyway.

The fact England v South Africa at the Oval is also on tomorrow (which Im buzzing for as I’ve got tickets) makes the decision to postpone all football matches even weirder,

How is cancelling sporting events a show of respect?!

Does seem odd every other sport is going ahead but football games.

Maybe words were said after the matches carried on when Prince Phillip died?

It still slows the process down, dramatically.

I'm off to the golf at Wentworth tomorrow and I think that the logistics of rearranging the cricket or the golf is much more difficult than the football so I do sort of get it. Equally, would have been gutted if it had been cancelled but would understand the reasoning. Majority of the football fans wouldn't be traveling too far and it only takes 1 day spare in the calendar to get them in. Plus things like the respective stadiums only being used to host those teams, and the staff required to get the game on being tied to the clubs allows games to be shifted about.

The fact that football is out on its own (the rugby is still going ahead just some shifting about, and that's the most comparable) is really odd though. Wonder if Prince William being president of the FA affected anything?

True but they shouldn’t cancel dozens of games and disrupt people schedules, jobs etc for a few idiots who’ll boo anything.

The vast majority will have observed it correctly but like usual, the authorities will not trust football fans

I love how the PL cancelling games has, for no reason at all, inspired some of you to start slagging off Liverpool.

For all the noise a section of football fans make about being distinct/unique/separate, there are plenty of people who harbour a pretty strong prejudice against the entire city and will use any excuse to slag it and the people off.

As you were.

So the cancellations (or not) are based on how easy they are to rearrange?

They’ve bandwagonned things for years. My point isn’t on the Tory upset. I agree they ****ed it right up. It’s the mindless lemming approach that the city generally takes to anything that will allow them to distance themselves from the rest of the country that I was commenting on. It’s bizarre.

The booing of Abide With Me at the most recent Cup final was the weirdest performative gesture. They'd never bothered before, but now something they feel they *have to* purely because nobody else does. Then just make up a reason after the fact.

Start tagging people mate, I’m one of them.

Im sure they’ll get over it and use it as even more reason to distance themselves from

everyone. After all, it means more

He'll have X amount of games regardless and I don't get the impression he's one or two from getting the boot but if a game against one potential relegation rival is postponed until after he's gone then thats fine by me. More chance we'll actually win.

Have they ever cuddled up to the establishment since Hillsborough though?

In my opinion, opposition fans get way more offended about Liverpool fans not being pro tory/pro royals, than Liverpool fans trying to distance themselves from everyone else.

I think I speak for many just wanting him gone asap.

This delays it by potentially 3 or 4 weeks.

It’s just a bizarre thing to try and do imo. I also thought it was ridiculous when London tried to distance itself from England when Brexit vote went through. You don’t hear London clubs singing ‘London, not English’.

And how far do we look back? Hillsborough was an awful tragedy and clearly negligence happened. If we go back further though there were scousers fighting world wars in the name of England. What is more patriotic than that?

Can’t agree with it

It does seem like a bad decision and made for PR points not through genuine sentiment or respect from the football authorities.

Surely the solution would have been to play the national anthem, do a silence or applause (the latter is a much better used method of respect in recent years drowning out twats) and even armbands. That would show a lot more ‘respect’.

On a Leicester level though, it’s the best result we’d get this weekend!

That’s what I mean though, they’ve never really openly showed hate towards anyone other than the establishment so there’s no reason for everyone else to get so offended.

It doesn’t bother me at all, I commend the city for having a greater sense of identity than most places in the UK.

Also find the weight of the big 6/Liverpool hatred incredibly weird. Read people commenting on here saying ‘there were loads of Liverpool fans at my school at 1970 so I hate them’ my goodness. Most probably never been to Liverpool

re the London club thing, probably because most of their fans don’t live in London, and love brexit! On Chelsea/spurs/west ham days the rail lines from Essex/Surrey/Kent are blocked with them

I've been calling for it for longer than most I can assure you.

Liverpool fans as a world phenomenon are generally ****ing annoying so I do get the point of the first paragraph.

Back on the national anthem/ establishment lark… I think a better approach would be to demonstrate (like they have) on specifics rather than a broad brush approach like booing the national anthem and claiming scouse not English.

My reasoning is that many of us outside of Liverpool agree with them and their upset over the disasters. But you immediately turn people off by a generic gesture like booing GSTQ because we all as a country embrace it otherwise.

Again, it just feels like the point is to jump on anything that makes them different and create shock around it versus tackling the issues at hand.

Didn’t the clubs vote to delay?

Maybe some are thinking they’ll get players back etc?

I would really hope the clubs didn't have a say in this. As we saw last year with the COVID postponements, clubs will act shamelessly to get games called off if they feel it benefits them in the slightest way.

Apparently they didn't...the PL board made the decision and the club's didn't reject it once told it was going to happen
