Definitely not the worst in the clubs history. I can’t stand the man, but he doesn’t live up to that title. Has he pissed in your swimming pool?

Ward is streets ahead of Paul Henderson, Carl Pentney, Mark Bunn, Rab Douglas, Tony Warner etc. Tony Warner. I just remember him coming out against Chelthenham in League one, realising he was out of his box and then playing head tennis with himself up to the halfway line.
Richard Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 This thread puts things into perspective. As shit as we all feel at the moment, it’s incomparable to having 38 year old Kevin Pressman conceding direct from goal kicks

As a club we have always had great keepers. Gordon Banks, Peter Shilton, Mark Wallington, Tim Flowers, Kasey Keller, Kasper Schmeichel to name a few. I have to say Danny Ward has to be the worst keeper we have ever had. His positional sense is none existant, his kicking is poor, he is an average Championship keeper at best. We have to give Iverson a chance against Villa, unfortunately though Rogers will not. Carry on with Ward in goal I now believe we will achieve another record, by beating Derbys lowest points total in the premier league. Sit back, watch this and feel better… 1
4everfox Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Not our worst ever keeper, but there is a strong argument to suggest he's our worst ever Premier League keeper. Clearly Ward is not good enough for this level, he's well out of his depth and it shows. Not replacing Schmeichel will prove to be a costly mistake I reckon.
melrose Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Alan Young and Steve Lynex between the sticks instilled me with more confidence.
StevieH Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Schmeichel has been a massive loss. Ward just not upto it. Lack of communication, rubbish distribution, basic errors. This all perpets itself through the whole team and they be come anxious on the ball and mistakes happen. The keeper can see the whole pitch and should be constantly communicating with team mates.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Makes Chris Weale look like Peter Shilton.
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 He was in passive no man's land for at least two of those through ball goals. Kasper would have been doing his Bruce Lee splits in the attackers face. Really poor keeping. Not sure he's up to it.
teblin Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 (edited) No he’s not the worst, but he’s not good enough for the level we are at. Edited 5 September 2022 by teblin
FLAN Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 I don’t know how anyone (let alone Rodgers) thinks you can go from playing 4 league cup games a year to being #1 in a premier leagaue team. The leap must be enormous
Nalis Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Didnt we go through a stage of crap loan keepers in the championship?
Blue-fox Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 We’ve had a lot more that are worse than him, than we have had better in my lifetime. the better I can remember off the top of my head: Poole keller flowers walker Fulop Kasper worse: Ricardo Kirkland pressman Ikeme Stockdale logan douglas henderson weale casino Jimmy Lars Hirschfeld Hamer Schwazer(can’t spell the name😂) Zieler Gavin Ward spider Kalac
Supergray22 Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 (edited) Kaspers departure was always going to be a hard act to follow just like Vardy. I think Ward is getting some harsh criticism here. He isn’t the best by any means but the thing that disappoints me is that we have just seen a number of very good keepers move in the summer at reasonable prices just at a time when we haven’t been in a position to put in a bid. Stadt Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 I'm willing to give most players the benefit of the doubt at the minute, playing under the little clown isn't getting the best out of anyone but it's easy to see why at 29 - he's not even played 100 games. Iversen deserves his chance. 1
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 I think the gulf in quality between him and the rest of the team is the widest ever. When we had other shit goalkeepers we had at least some roughly equally shit outfield players. He sticks out like a sore thumb.

Have to remember he has come into the team with 1 PL start, Watford last season and 3 in total, into a defence that has been shipping goals all this PL calendar year at least, that won't help him at all. Worst performance I have ever seen from Wilf in all his time here yesterday sadly. Match reporter for the Mail gave Ward 8.5 and our man of the match. All down to opinions I suppose.
westernpark Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Smithies is a better goalkeeper than him, that’s the absurdity of the situation.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 The way people have gone after ward immediately is so ****ing odd to me, did anyone have the expectation of him being a phenomenally good number 1? I know there were weirdos saying drop Kasper for him before but Jesus Christ give the man a break. He's not the **** passing sideways and not giving an ounce of pride into his performance on the pitch. 1
kyleolly Posted 5 September 2022 Posted 5 September 2022 Yes get him out the squad, his positioning is terrible he makes absolutely no effort to keep the ball out he just falls on his oversized arse. #Rogersout #****offward
