He would have a point if he didn't sign most of the players he wants rid off.

This really needs pointing out every time out transfer issues are discussed. Rodgers gets away with this point each time.

What’s the saying, a poor workmanship blames his tools?

If he is as good a coach as he thinks he is, then he would go on to prove it.

Our squad needs additions but it is by no means worthy of sitting bottom of the pile.

We’re bottom because the toss attitude Brendan has.

Totally agree. Our squad is capable of easy mid table. Probably not a lot more currently, but certainly that. A manager with ANY ability should get this bunch headed to safety and a midway finish. Seems to me the players have lost any respect for Rodgers and collectively they’ve lost their backbone. Time for some hard truths, tough love and direct talking. Not many managers will

offer us that. Dyche is one and as you all know, I despise Dyche, but I want my club saved  and he will save it.

Maybe but we have a decent 1st eleven and bench and many of them are devoid of confidence or he refuses to play them.  He should have concentrated on building up the players he has rather than knocking them down.

Totally agree, a good manager gets the best out of his available players by playing them to their strengths not asking them to fill positions they are weak in, then a system is developed that suits the talent available!

It's not rocket science!

Top managers make ordinary players look good and good players look exceptional.
Rodgers makes them all look poor - just imagine how that must feel when you see your career going down the drain because your boss is too pig headed to change and compounds his mistakes by blaming you!

This man is using old tricks and friends in the press to divert all blame from himself on to anybody else.

We should not believe a word that comes out of his mouth or that of his mates from the press.

Of course he was (perhaps not that many), but it’s his fault isn’t it. Buying rubbish, isolating players and casting them aside and then expecting performances. Ignoring certain positions whilst stockpiling CM’s etc.

It’s being very underplayed on these threads. Rodgers needs to go, as I don’t think we can get better with him at the helm. But people - myself included - who think a change of manager equates to a change of fortunes need to accept it may not be that straightforward. This set of players have been physically and psychologically weak for more than the first seven games of this season. Whoever comes in is really up against it. It’s not hopeless. Two wins and we are in a different space. It’s just that right now, I don’t think any of us can see a win coming anytime soon.

I genuinely think Brendan Rodgers could take Man City and turn them into an utter snorefest of a football team.

The players aren't the problem here, Brendan's 2D plan to football is.

...the group is more than good enough!!!

Rodgers talking down our players saying that they have achieved under him something that they may never achieve again and the seemed resigned to that outcome.

He (Rodgers) just cannot motivate, that is why he wants other players in, he has been sussed out by his existing group and he doesn't not know how to handle it.

He is either a sycophant to players with big personalities or he alienates people who push back, either way, there is a lack of man management skills right there.

He's right to a degree, but this conveniently ignores how badly the current ones are being coached and have been for 18 months, and the fact his / Congerton's dire signings have prevented us making more anyway. So no I'm not having it. An arsonist could rightly point out that the house needs fixing, but it doesn't change the fact he started the fire.

He may be right, to compete at the top end of the table. However we are staring down the barrel of a gun and that’s on him. A decent manager gets a tune out of this squad.

Rodgers would have this Man City side around 3rd/4th and letting in 50 a season.

Pretty much every week, 3 of our back 4 are Rodgers's signings....We're lucky we had Claude Puel, it's his players that have carried us for the past 3-4 years, along with the likes of Kasper and Vardy.

We have good squad that did need some extra additions but lets not forget amongst all that Rodgers has certainly brought in some poor signings, Vestergard (Southampton fans must have been laughing when we signed him), Perez (On paper looked a decent signing, but lets face in about say 74 appearances he's made I can think of less than ten he's actually been good in), Soyuncu (good to begin with, but since then just awful), Bertrand (What it is with Rodgers wanting to sign Southampton players?), Ryan Bennett (Yikes!), Dennis Praet (Don't look interested).

Some may remind me of the good signings he's made, but sadly there's been a lot more bad signings rather than good. Can't say he's never been backed in the past.

You think the squad we have is worth the points total?

That should answer your question.  He might been right for pushing for top 4 or top 6, but not just to stay in the league.

i do remember seeing some good footy being played by burnley when they’ve had the players to perform that way so I kinda get what dyche is talking about.
what other option do we have right when?

the team needs a serious jolt to wake up from this sickness. It needs jump starting as harsh as it may seem. Cruel to be kind

The one thing Sean Dyche always had at Burnley was a pair of forwards to score 8-10 goals each.  Ings, Vokes, Barnes, Gray, Wood.  Last year it went awry because Wood didn't perform well and his partners were mostly injured or off form.  The one year we had a real quality midfielder (Defour), we finished 7th and qualified for Europe with more of a 4-4-1-1.  (Still not prolific scorers, though.)

If Vardy isn't quite the player he was, that could be an issue.  I can't see him allowing 2-5 and 2-6 in consecutive games, though.  Your defenders should be far better than that.

Not sure this needed another thread, I think everyone agreed we needed signings - 3, 5, 8 it doesn't matter -and major surgery to the deadwood but having been made clear in July or whenever that they weren't coming, his job was to bring the group together, go again with what we had and consolidate in mid-table. His actual response was to dig out the board in public, make more excuses about not being backed and generally twist his way out of any blame for this situation we're in. £10m a year to take what is still a very talented squad to the foot of the table.

We do need new players and that's why I can't see a new manager coming in and turning us around.

We need a new goalkeeper, a new winger, a new midfielder.

We can score goals so it’s a case of stopping us conceding.

A new manager

Iversen in for Ward

Faes settled in

Is the solution to stop conceding 3+ goals a game. Rodger’s can’t manage a game and he can’t instil any grit - the players we have are capable

It's not the tools it's the way he uses them that's the problem. Square pegs in round holes and all that.

Can you blame them not being interested in his boring football. I can't even be arsed to watch us on TV.

Was Brendan right? Well I could have wanted Heidi Klum, Joanna Lumley, Margot Robbie, Kate Beckinsale, Selena Gomez and Kylie but there was never any chance I’d get any of them.

He’ll just have to make do with what he’s got as I do with my missy. 🙂

That’s quite a specific list you’ve got there. Was surprised to see Joanna Lumley in it but fair enough.

Of course he was right.

Our defence is appalling. Evans is past it and Danny Ward is League One standard at best. We sold our best defender and Soyunco has gone MIA.

We will be relegated without a new keeper! Why did they let Kasper go?!?!?

Rodgers is to blame for the tactics but Rudkin & Top are to blame for the poor transfer window!

I still reckon Top has lost interest and he wants out. If so why not bring in investment and appointment someone with experience to run the club. Not Rudkin

Nail on the head.

We have players in the last 12 months who have scored plenty of goals when we have create very little.

Even this season 8th highest scorers in the league.

What we don't have is a defensive structure, or a desire to defend properly which can all be fixed by a new manager.

I'd be more worried if we weren't scoring.
