Never understand why our fans are so obsessed with Maguire. Did the Fofana transfer not shine a light for how well he conducted himself during negotiations?

To be honest I don’t particularly like the guy. Probably because of the fact I’ve always found him overrated, I think he thinks he’s better than he is (the “don’t you know who I am?” attempt to buy off the Greek police) and I also can’t stand Manchester United.

That being said I’ve found the level of abuse he’s received at Man Utd quite disturbing and actually started to feel a bit sorry for him in recent times. I can also understand why he starts for England as it’s hardly rich pickings in the CB department and he’s rarely let the team down.

Tomori should absolutely be starting over him.

I don't see enough of Tomori to know really, but I'm not saying the issue isn't worthy of debate. I personally might have started with Stones and White, but I can understand why he might stick with Maguire. It's not such a strange decision, to me, as continuing to pick Mount or (despite a decent showing against Iran) Sterling when there are so many high quality players in the midfield and forward positions who are obviously in much better form.

Sterling I can forgive as he has been generally good for England under Southgate. Mount is more confusing.

Yeah but 8 years ago the second striker, the same role, was Okazaki and he was great in that role. Him and Vardy had a great partneship.

Okazaki wasn't just great.... he was .... legendary

Imagine looking at this Belgium team and thinking Youri is the problem.

He was awful. Rodgers should have had the balls to do that to him more last season. I don't get how he can look genuinely world class some weeks then look like Junior Lewis

So we keep a player just to see if he's a better replacement for Vardy 8 years later.

Look here !!!

If you are going to start using reason & logic in your posts, then this place is not for you.

A real lack of pace and movement in this Belgian side. He thrives for us with quick and mobile players around him.

I find it laughable how much the pundits have been told to talk down England's chances. We have two sets of attacking players who'd get in any team in world football and the favourites Brazil boast players like richarlison.

Even if you disagree we will win it, the fact they've all spoken about us like we are best of the rest behind Brazil, Argentina, Germany and Spain is a joke.

Maybe everyone is basing it on England's shite form in the last 18 months?

If so, then they are totally correct.

Our attacking options are as good if not better than anyones, it’s the defence that’s the issue.

Belgium needed a leader in their tean tonight. Someone who is aggressive, talks loads and has the confidence to play out from the back. Someone like Wout Faes!!!

I initially thought this but, decided we didn't need to advertise Faes to the world. Let's just keep him as our little secret.

But then the pundits talk up these other sides as if they don't have massive weaknesses.

I'd be willing to bet Maguire and Stones won't be the issue if we don't win it. It'll be showing the opposition too much respect again.

About time they learned the lesson. Every single time English pundits have built up expectations, the performances have been underwhelming at best.

I think England have a genuine chance.

Dan looks to be doing Ok   0=0,if they are lucky

Going back to Maguire remember he came from Hull relegated and with worst goals conceded and often got caught following his man running out instead of judging when to let him go.Good business from us IMO
