He was sitting in the stands with our academy players in the cup game against Newport, which I though was a bit odd at the time

He will definitely beed replacing he's an integral part of the coaching staff.

Made no secret of his desire to move into management and extremely highly rated.

Oh ...and I've said it before and I'll say it again.

He's not the defensive coach never has been and never will be.

Gets stick here off people in a role thats he's not even in. 🙄

You’re right, he’s not the defensive coach. He was the assistant manager, who was a top level defender in his day.

Was he not allowed to get involved in anything to do with our defensive shape? Shouldn’t take Knudsen to come in for things to change

He was a coach for Leicester City & would have a responsibility for how the team played. That surely would encompass both offence & defence would it not ?

As a former defender I'm sure Brendan would have asked Kolo for his input & opinion on how the team defended. To say that because he's title doesn't contain the word defence means that he had no input into defending while at the club is a little ridiculous.

All the best to him, but not quite sure what Wigan see in him? Huge gamble on Wigan's part. Thought Nigel Adkins would have reasonable appointment considering he played for them for seven years, a probably knows the club well.

I've never understood the knowing the club thing. I'm not convinced it actually means a lot, if anything.

That was my thought. Knudsen coming in as Set Piece Coach could well have been with a view to getting the main Defensive Coach job, if Toure left. Although Bilbo's mate, I'm sure even he realises that Toure was a bit of a disaster, given our defensive record of late. Knudsen has really made an impact and fully deserves a promotion.

Kolo is not defensive coach, he is a general coach.

Tell me where I said he has no input into defending?

Clearly you imagined that bit.

So he was not responsible for our defence and he was also, due to his expertise, not not responsible for our defence. I hope that clears things up

Best of luck to him - clearly had a positive relationship with a lot of the players and seemed to contribute to a good environment for them to learn and develop. I do think he was in the role to more as an understudy to Brendan, rather than providing unique development experiences for the players - something Knudsen seems to have demonstrated since his arrival.

Will Knudsen stop as USMNT coach after the World Cup then? He would have to if he was to join full time.

Thank F for that.  Finally the turd of Brendan's backroom staff removed, never knew what he actually bought to LCFC, apart from his name.  Seemed like a guy willing the play the credibility role in Brendans backroom staff based on his playing days.  Good he is gone.  This just might be a big turning point in Brendan and LCFC.  I trust our owners fully.  They see what we don't.

It helps in terms of supporters being on your side early on. Club legend returns ect usually gets a good response from any club.

Most don’t know his actual job title, and you’ve never known what he’s done (unlike the other backroom staff—I’m sure their names and job descriptions roll off the tongue) and you’re willing to bet this will be a turning point for the club. :appl:

Fair enough. I guess it may have a very short term immediate effect. It can quickly backfire as we're fickle bastards!

Top level defender is over-playing his part a bit. Apart from a couple of seasons at Arsenal he was rarely more than a squad player anywhere else.. There were always CBs like Campbell, Senderos and Cygan that were ahead of him and he was more like the Amartey of his day. Whenever someone got injured in the back four or defensive mid they threw Toure in as a utility player. He was never first choice for City or Liverpool, just a gaffe-prone stand-in.

He was a quality premiership defender
