Fair enough. I guess it may have a very short term immediate effect. It can quickly backfire as we're fickle bastards!

But as we see clubs legends, maybe an amazing as players, but as manager terrible. Only have to look at Shearer going to manage Newcastle in 2009. 8 games to keep them in the premier league against average opposition... with players like Owen, Viduka, Alan Smith, Butt, Nolan, Duff and Enrique. Still went down.

Not quite

He made 48 appearances out of the 49 unbeaten invincible run joint top with Henry.

Look at his appearances

Fair enough, I just don't remember him being that much of a standout in the years after they replaced the George Graham backline. Definitely went down hill after he left though.

Sources: Kolo Toure agrees three-and-a-half-year Wigan deal, announcement expected in next 24 hours

Leicester City coach Kolo Toure has agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal to become Wigan Athletic’s new manager, sources have told Football Insider.

The deal is expected to be announced in the next 24 hours.

On 19 November, Football Insider revealed the former Arsenal and Man City defender, 41, had told Leicester he had decided to accept an offer to replace Leam Richardson at the Championship club.

This will be the end of all the experts who never set a foot inside Seagrave telling us exactly what his responsibilities were.  A blessing in itself.

He is getting the type of opportunity which can make or break an aspiring manager.  And he’ll show us what he’s got or not got.

I don’t think a stint at Wigan Athletic will define his career in management

Ash Johal going is great for Ash , he'll be missed . Popular man who is a great organiser and professional .

I always find things like this interesting, you just never know who gets on with who inside a football club do you lol Kolo spotting Ash as a talent hopefully highlights the closer working relationship between first team and academy these days!

He's also nabbed Kevin Betsy who was doing so well with youth teams, especially Arsenal U23's but failed spectacularly in his first forray into management with Crawley this season.

Rob Kelly was already there I believe, interesting contrast of styles with Kolo and Kevin very progressive and Rob... well... Rob lol

Doesn't seem like our highly regarded academy staff stick around too long, nature of the beast I suspect and happens at many clubs like ourselves but hopefully we can try and mitigate it with destined track record of promoting from within for those that deserve it and the jobs for the boys old guard are rooted out.

Good luck in your new role kolo.
Thanks for all your hard work and hope you take your learnings from here and kick it out of the park at Wigan. 💙🦊
