People are genuinely forgetting we have Maguire in our back line and i'm not even just saying it because we all hate him but if you look at the Senegal game in the first 15 minutes they put 2 balls in behind our defence which maguire clearly struggled to keep up with and got bailed out. We wont be getting bailed out against france, it only takes one chance for them. Maguire has had a pretty solid start to the tournament however but i reckon he will really struggle on Saturday.

A fairly even game I reckon.

How many England players would get into France's first 11 - definitely Pickford, Walker, Bellingham, probably Kane, possibly Rice.

How many France players would get into England's - definitely Mbappe, Rabiot, probably Dembele, Griezmann, possibly Hernandez, Giroud

Oh, and Varane for Maguire

How can Kane get into France's team and Giroud get into England's team? (unless your combined 11 has two centre-forwards...).

None of these would for me. Varane and Mbappe probably the only two.

International managers can only play with what they have available and currently for England Maguire is as good as anything we have.

Southgate and co would have spent hours upon hours on how to beat certain nations and i am guessing France is one of them i read they have been planning to play again Mbappe for 2 years! now how true that is i have no idea but how Walker has been rushed back and thankfully he is fit he will play a key role on Sunday and if we nails it (rarely has a poor game) we have a great chance. Senegal on the other hand he would have known worse case we can out score them and that is basically what we did.

Our passage to the final would have been worked out on probability and i imagine the majority of the time spent by Southgate and his experts would have been focused on the Quarters, Semis and the Final.

I would not be surprised to 5 at the back with Walker as the 3rd CB to 'double up' on Mbappe. Giroud is the ideal striker for Maguire to play against and i have Dembele and Griezmann often flit in and out of games, you have to trust other others to deal with them.

We all know attack is our best form of defence and if our front 5 who ever they are are on it we should have enough quality to beat France.

I'm no fan of Southgate (mainly for how he has treated Madison over the past 12 months) but you have to respect him and his management team, it is very impressive in knock out football.

I keep seeing this yet the last time they played against each other was in the FA cup semi final where Giroud scored and Maguire also scored an own goal? I dont see where the point of Giroud being the ideal striker for him comes from?

Im having a baby in the next couple of weeks and ive managed to get the wife to agree to call her Maddison if 1) she comes after the world cup 2) England win the world cup and 3) Maddy plays at some point.

So in other words, I need some baby name suggestions

Maguire for Man Utd is a different player compared to him for England. Maguire is a lot more comfortable in a match up against someone like Giroud then a Salah or a Mane for instance. Giroud is a good player of course but would he even be in the team if Benezma was fit? Absolutely not.

The best chance we have of beating France is now we are basically playing again half of their second string, they have been very unlucky with injuries but still look a force.

Exactly, there is absolutely nothing to fear from the majority of them and I hope Southgate realises it.

Every single team including England are there for the taking this Tournament. If you set out to attack you will likely win.

I agree with both of these and i also think England win this game because of our attack. However, i firmly believe unless we are extremely lucky this defence will lose us the tournament

I don't think a single team can boast a defence that's going to win them this tournament, each team at points has looked shaky against 'lesser' opposition even those with first choice 11s out.

I agree however these other teams have defenders in their team with experiences of winning tournaments whilst i dont think any one of our defenders have.

You need a massive stroke of luck to win any tournament, rarely do you see a team dominate every game.

I'm not saying i think England will win the World Cup btw, what i am saying is we wont have a better chance of better France than we do have on Saturday.

Hoping Maguire has a blinder just to stick two fingers up to international social media who think they're hilarious when slating Maguire.

I’ve told too many of the old miserable ****ers at work it’s coming home to lose this 😅

I get we’ve had many years of hurt and let downs but cannot understand how negative people are about our national side. Times change.

Pickford

Walker

Maguire

Stones

Shaw

Henderson

Foden

Bellingham

Rashford

Kane

Saka

I just never see the point of playing Henderson and Rice at the same time. I'd only bring on Rice if it's ten minutes to go and we are leading by just the one or two goal margin.

If Reece James had been fit I would have looked at a back 5 with him at RCB where he was superb in the Champions League Final and Walker at RB, that's some barrier against Mbappe. However, the way games have gone I'm happy to stick with current formation and hopefully by utilising as many of the attacking options as possible over the course of the 90-120 mins we'll have plenty to hurt them with, I can't see Kane, Foden, Saka, Grealish, Rashford, Sterling, Madders :please: all being in-effective on the night, if it's not working change it, mix it up a bit and use the fresh legs don't leave strugglers out there like we did v Italy). With the red hot Bellingham behind combinations of those players we have plenty of goalscoring options spread around the squad, not forgetting CB's at set pieces and even Jordan Henderson the other night! Going to a back 5 plus Rice and Henderson would be a backwards step and invite pressure.

I fear Maddison is going to be brought on in the 119th minute to take a penalty...and we can all see how that ends

He scores the winning penalty and signs for man utd for £100 million.
