Yesss!! Early days but excited by this team's potential now.. Hard luck Harry, freak OG.. Madders was class, Tetê!!, great link up between Harvey and VK (who was magnificent, love this guy already)

Exciting end to end stuff! So pleased

Great result but still a nervous watch. Villa had plenty of chances. Too many suicide balls at times and too many wayward passes. Tete a real positive. Three tough games coming up so really needed that. Still went defensive by bringing on Mendy instead of going for the fourth. Ironically we managed to get it, albeit rather fortuitously. The only real disappointment(s) today are Everton and Wolves winning. Now to cheer on Newcastle.

For the first time in god knows how long

We were fun to watch from start to finish

Up the boys

My thoughts entirely. Pleased with the win but being entertained is so refreshing.

I don't get the fascination with xG. It means absolutely nothing.

The last dozen or so times you have posted that, I've ignored it.  But at some point it needs addressed.

xG IS THE QUANTITY AND QUALITY OF CHANCES EXPRESSED AS A NUMBER.  There are shot-based and non-shot models.  No one is claiming a perfect quantification is possible.

Now if do you really think quantity and quality of chances are "absolutely meaningless" when discussing a match or a season, then carry on.

(xG to follow … should be an interesting stat today)

Probably too late, but what the hey! I'm pissed 😅Screenshot_20230204_172232_FotMob.thumb.jpg.e0e7e341660743bf4121560fa2b188fb.jpg

Even shit faced I know the difference between to and too (and two! Aren't I a. Clever boy.)

Villa are no mugs. We beat them because for once Rodgers threw caution to the wind, picked a team of ambition and we had quality and bravery going forward.

Let’s hope it’s not a one off. With those three new signings (all huge upgrades on those they replaced), Maddison in the centre and Iheanacho (another upgrade) up top you’d like to think it won’t be.

Cannot for a second understate how important today was.

If we'd lost, we'd be 17th, out the relegation spots on Goal Difference.

I said before the Brighton game, they would score first but we would have a chance to come back, is this the first time since PSV that we've come from behind and won?

Your estimation of me posting it a dozen times is about as accurate as xG.

And creating chances isn't meaningless, the stat literally makes no sense.

Villa missed an absolute sitter in the first half and scored 2 goals, yet they're expected to score 1.7 (which isn't actually possible)?

It's a totally flawed stat, that makes absolutely no sense.

Yet people are fascinated it.

There are plenty of factual stats that portray a game more accurately.

Possession areas, touches in opposition box, shots, shots on target...you know, things that actually exist?

If the new signings keep up those levels of performance we're going to avoid relegation with ease. We looked absolutely lethal on the offensive today. The front four were brilliant.

Kristiansen was immense, wow... what a player we've discovered! Souttar started slowly but grew into the game and what an amazing block in the second half for what looked to be a nailed on goal.

Only real negatives for me today were Castagne who Villa seemed to get round the back of with ease, and Ward who makes you feel like you're playing without a GK.

What a match that was. It was not fun to watch for most of it though lol Kristiansen and Tete were sensational, but I'm not overly convinced that Souttar is an improvement on Amartey based on that performance. Willing to give all of them a chance though.

The worst player on the pitch for me was Castagne, he kept getting skinned time and time again and gave them so much space. Vardy was really effective when he came on and we should continue to use him as an impact sub.

It’s fairly representative.

Most of this season we’ve been 0.5-1.2 xG a game whereas today we actually looked dangerous and created chances.

We created 5 big chances. Not sure how that only equates to 2 xG. But who cares anyway?!

I'm delighted we've held on to a lead again.

Will do wonders for the team's mentality and belief.

Agreed. Big result for confidence 🙌🙌

You kidding 3 new players intergrating in the team, Nachos first or second start, Maddison back it was a great match and result

Sheesh, I just knew me not particularly enjoying the game would trigger someone!

I said the new guys looked good, I said we had better balance. I see the positives. I just didn't think it the best of games. I can differentiate; I'm a fan of football AND a fan of Leicester. If I were a Villa fan, I'd be spitting bricks at the wasted chances. The result flattered us in fairness, they gifted us 2 for crikey's sake!

How come Cags came on when he hasn't had a minute all season? What's happened?

Very odd, though Thomas for VK was possibly even stranger as VK still looked full of running.
