I hope Brendan is not seriously going to start Ward for this?

I’m by no means a fan of Ward, but was Iversen any better against Championship opposition in the week? If that was Ward in goal, everyone (quite rightly) would be calling out his positioning for the first goal, where the ball went in the net about bang in the middle. Was crap positioning, maybe it’s endemic with our GK’s!

:dunno: It was a wonderfull goal that curved, and was not  in the Center of the goal..

plus’s this is titbiting…Iversen  deserves his run in the first team, and creating a naysayer platform before he or any player, has a run of 10-15 games,is well quite pathetic…everyone deserves a run and chance…Ward has shown he lacking..

Fek it, Im battered this evening. FA Cup game was a dry w@nk opportunity wasted but we are going to roast these 3-0 and Maddison will boss the game.

I think. Please. Don't think i can cope with anything else.

Nah, it literally did go in the centre of the goal. Was poor positioning as didn’t set himself

early Enough after Amartey gave it away.

I don’t necessarily disagree that Iversen is worth a run of games, but let’s not kid ourselves, he’s not going to be the answer either. Neither of these pair at Premier League number ones.

I thought it looked poor at the time and that's the first time I've seen the reverse angle, ****ing hell - even accounting for the ball being given away shortly prior there is not really any reason why that shot should be going in

I love that people genuinely think that Iversen will be in that position every week and it's a legitimate thing to write him off about.

It's actually infuriating that people cannot see why he ended up in the position he was in lol

How can anyone question why Brendan wouldn't call this game a ‘must win’.  (In public)

if he says it’s must win and we don’t win then he opens up a whole line of questioning that he doesn’t want to face

if we were in danger of relegation and there were only a few games left then he probably would say it’s must win - I guarantee that the players know he thinks it’s a must win game - context is everything

I have to agree on this as much as I am very much at the end of my tether with Rodgers I think if he does say it’s must win it just raises the pressure and tension surrounding the game. Also from a self preservation perspective it also makes sense, if we lose after he has stated it’s a must win it adds further scrutiny and pressure to his own position, he would actually be creating his own ultimatum.

He is well aware of the importance and significance of this game however I think he will see this slightly differently than a Must Win rather focusing on Must Not Lose and therefore i fear we will be very conservative in our approach

I’m no fan of Ward either, but I thought Iverson looked awful on the ball and that goal was horrific.

I'm genuinely concerned for us if we don't get a result here and I'm sure the players will have that in the back of their minds.. This really comes down to how motivated and psychologically prepared they are as we are a much better team on paper quality wise.

In fairness, they've played under similar pressure at Wolves, Everton and West Ham and done ok under heavy pressure following winless runs v Palace and Brighton.

Mendy has to play. I think I'll have an aneurysm if Soumare is there. Iversen needs to play too, just to, in the manager's own words 're-set'.

Iversen

Castagne

Kristensen

Souttar

Faes

Mendy

Wilf

(double pivot. Pointless KDH playing that role. He simply can't do it)

Ricardo or Praet or  KDH advanced (I wouldn't have Tete anywhere near the starting xi)

Madders

Barnes

Kels

...it would be naive for him (Rodgers) to come out and say it is a "must win" game, he is more media savvy than that!!!

What he says behind closed doors is not the same, as he states in the media.

Players set their own personal goals, this would be for their own motivation or a barometer to where they need to be at a certain time in the season.

For Vestergaard to come out and say what he did, was a surprise, but this comment by Faes, is an opinion by a player,  not an open rebuff of Rodgers himself.

...the double pivot is not needed, playing Ndidi and Mendy together seems like surrender!!!

We can't have Nacho upfront on his own, he needs to occupy Maddison's space.

We cannot abandon Tete, this is a chance for him to further get used to playing in the Premier league,  we take him out now and his previous games would have been wasted. He had started to look good when he was pulled in his last game. Let him have a full 90. We would not look to pull Mahrez off, and a tiring backline against a tricky winger is a recipe for creating goals as well as last ditched penalties.

BR waffling on about picking hungry players so on the assumption he has been watching what we have been watching that should mean no more Soumare and Tête will become the latest recipient of the “Under award for the forgotten player of the season”

Judging from the saves Iverson made against  Blackburn, I would say with Ward in goal, Blackburn would have scored 5, so while I'm not convinced Iverson is the answer, and we certainly need a new Keeper, I believe from what I saw on Tuesday night that Iverson is the better keeper. Although his trying to play out from the back ( I suspect ordered to do so by Rodgers) was asking for trouble.

this is pretty much exactly my view. Iversen not great but basically less shit than Ward

Take it back..was centre, but still a nice strike.

and you can’t judge any player especially a GK,until he has a long full run,

Iversen is really only starting out on his PL quest, there is not really as yet,any POV

angles…..He might be our answer for no1 spot. These angles & quicker positioning

comes with experience,often quickly..

Not everybody can start like Peter Shilton or Mark Wallington…

plus let’s be honest,Europe wide how many outstanding, trustworthy goalkeepers

is there in the top sides. De Gea is my favourite, but also has his days.

Dont put such an high expectation on Iversen, where experienced GKs also have their problems…

We see with Ward comparisons that really shouts out the question of his PL standard lacking in his all round performance. Probably our first ever no1 that

really isn’t cutting it…

Tuesday evening: we're never going to beat Southampton.

Wednesday evening: should beat these easily.

There is always somebody on here who predicts a victory against any other team , even Man.City. Personally I think result prediction in the PL is a waste of time , there are far, far too many variables. Teams are so inconsistent at the moment you never know what you are going to get.
