Only debate is middle of the pitch. If Madders is fit, I’d play 4-2-3-1 with Mendy and Youri at the base. If he’s not, I’d go 4-3-3 and have Youri in the middle of Wilf and Mendy to close out midfield and hope the front three can nick a goal. 🥴🤞. KDH absolutely gets benched.

I Believe Youri is out for 6 weeks (or 8 if using the Duck egg Lewington System factoring in it was Rodgers who said 6)

My view is if wilf plays we don’t win. 

There is no choice - Mendy or nothing - if Soumare or Ndidi play we lose. Simple as that

“For players, it’s about what their purpose is. I’ll remind them of the sacrifices they made to get to be a footballer. It’s bringing their own purpose to the game.”

“They’ve gone back to basics and more experienced players have come in. I watched the Chelsea and Leeds games. When their tails are up, they can be a really good side. We have to run and be prepared for a physical battle.”

“It’s always disappointing when you make changes and give opportunities to players, and then seeing opportunities go. If you’re a Premier League team and you’re focused, you expect to go through. Both of us haven’t.”

 

How to see players who are hungriest?

“It’s very easy. It’s physicality in training. Players have told me what they want to achieve in their training, and the easy measure is to see what they do physically. If they’re the last one into training and first one away, their commitment doesn’t match that.”

“No, there’s nothing new. Ricky got through the game and was all good. No new injuries.”

“He had no after-effects. It was great. He needs more game-time. We’ll see what game-time he gets if we need him.”

 

Maddison?

“He’s a fantastic player. They make others better. Look at any team, like Casemiro at United. It’s no coincidence, he’s a top player. James has grown to that. He’s an influential player. Sounds like Rodgers has taken a dig at players that aren't giving/given enough in training. And if players aren't giving their full 100% then they do need a kick up the arse. It shows that some players who aren't giving that in training then aren't ready to go in a match - Amartey, Soumare, Thomas perhaps the biggest culprits? 

 

Fingers crossed Maddison is fine. We need him. More than he needs us. But he has to play in order for us to have a change of winning. Our win ratio without him is quite frankly pathetic.
