I've seen it all. I've seen piss streaming in the stands, I've seen us become premier league champions.

This is surely a contender for the greatest ever thing that’s been said on this forum? 🤣

I do think however a small part of me is slightly accommodating of what’s happened because, as you say, we completed football. Still doesn’t make me any less angry with the circus and all the many clowns.

Under 50s....do we all feel the same?

The old man used to take me to filbert street. I've seen it all. I've seen piss streaming in the stands, I've seen us become premier league champions.

What I do miss are the old days. The rocking up without a ticket, the banter , filbert street, standing up.no goal music. No clappers or cannons ffs.

A part of me died when we moved.

If I'm honest, I've lost that killer passion and this season hasn't helped.

The atmosphere is sterile, alot of the fan base weren't there when when got smashed 5-0 by Bolton on the opening day back (I think) only 20k in the stadium!

Alot has changed, mostly it's me, but we've completed football, I'm content.

But I hate the dwarf with a passion and the board have let us sink to lows which should never have happened.

It will be a long hard slog next season and going by past experience we could be in a spot of bother, I see no long term plan.

**** me I've actaully not seen any sort of planning/ forward thinking for years.

What a ride.

P.s **** you Brendan

And Jamie vardy is the best striker this club has had or ever will have until the sun burns out.

Are you me in disguise?

Agree All.

I’ve just turned 50 and have been attending man and boy…. A season ticket holder for a good proportion of the time…

I get what you’re saying…. I wouldn’t have been a fan of any other club…. It’s like you don’t get to pick your parents, right?

I think I can be immensely proud of what we’ve achieved, but also be pretty annoyed at how we’ve screwed it up….

The two emotions are not mutually exclusive….

54 and seen a lot - including that 0-5 reverse at Filbert Street to newly promoted Bolton (incl. Ian Marshall as a sub) on the opening day of 2001-02 season! Oh dear Peter Taylor! Good post though! First game for me at Filbert Street was in 1984 :)

Can you imagine the response down Filbert Street to t-shirt cannons & clappers?

You couldn't use those cannons down the East Stand, half t-shirts would be in somebody's garden. You get left a clapper on your seat it'd be ripped up for tickertape. Ah man, I miss that place.

Speaking of East Stands, why is it Luton are treated as a curious throwback to old times but when we had the Burnmoor Street entrance to the cow shed, we got called a shithole?

I mean let's not pretend Pierpoint and Mace were above trying to bring stupid gimmicks into the half time entertainment, but I guess it rings more hollow in an increasingly corporatised and sanitised world, especially when you just want to the club to be run competently.

As for the point about Luton, when we were first gracing the Premier League with our lopsided presence, grounds like Filbert Street were the norm and Millwall, Huddersfield, Middlesbrough and Sunderland were opening brand new, space-age, shiny grounds.

Now new build, flat pack stadiums like ours are the norm and Kenilworth Road has retro charm. If they're up there for 2-3 seasons without moving to that new ground, it'll become as appealing as a trip to Selhurst Park.

I am turning 50 this year so experienced most emotions as a Foxes Fan, the highest of highs and some of the lowest lows but what I wlll say is, if I had a choice to do it all again or support one of the big 6 and be guaranteed success most seasons, I would continue to pick Leicester every time.

Because of the size and type of club we have been, the lows are more frequent but the highs are so much more special and that is what I love about supporting our club. This is another of those low moments but like always we will return and better times will come again 🦊

October 1984 was my first game at Filbert Street too, we lost 1-4 to Arsenal, I met Viv Anderson before the game...

Hate this kind of crap.

A part of you died when we moved, yet we literally did the best thing to happen in sporting history after?

Yes it was amazing and i cheered, hugged strangers and (nearly) cried, but it doesn't feel like the same Leicester City. Don't know why but it just doesn't.

Knowing my luck I’d probably pick Tottenham as my big six club to support and be guaranteed failure every season

Pipe smoking in the Double Decker ( not me I hasten to add  ) the noise of rattles long before the clappers  - mine was painted white and blue of course , travelling from Blaby on my bike all evocative of the sixties at Filbo.

First game vs Leatherhead in the FA Cup... hooked from that day ... supporting them is not something you escape from ... its a life sentence... but there's one thing missing from the KP ... it has no soul no feeling of belonging no going from sitting on the wall in pen 4 ... moving on to the kop ... ending up in the main stand ... Happy days

I first started going to watch us in 97… so I came into the latter stages of Filbert Street.

There is something about that era that those who never experienced it won’t understand. Filbo wasn’t particularly sterile, but we were a bit of a bullish team back then that stood up to everyone.

Perhaps I’m more fond of that era because it’s the one I grew up watching. Football was different back then, the crowds retained a lot of the 80’s mentality without so much of the violence.

The club had the balance right in terms of family friendly but wanting the stadium to be an intimidating place. So they played the kind of music to get the fans going.

Now, it’s totally geared up for kids and families. The club don’t care for and aggression coming from within the stands, which is why they weren’t happy with some of the tifo’s that were produced a few seasons ago.

I much prefer those days if I’m being honest, I’m terms of being a fan, but I think I’m only saying that because of our current predicament. What we’ve achieved over the last ten years, a 90’s and earlier fan would have laughed you out of the stadium.

I do trust KP to get it right, they will not want to be in the championship no matter how tame Top’s statement was. A good season might reconnect the fan base to the club, and hopefully they can start delivering something we all want.

I loved Filbo like everyone else but we had to move. But i totally agree with the op . Football has changed and so have i over the years and it's not unusual to pine for the past.

Great post - all of it and then some - 10 weeks to get over this horror show of a season and actually fully rebuild a squad and a mentality- could be a really exciting time or could be Peter Taylor all over again - who knows

I fully expect to get pelters for this - and I totally have sympathy for the OP's point - but that generation should take their share of the blame for not getting organised enough to fight for and preserve the elements of football they held so dear.

You missed out half&half scarves, I mean you support one team or the other and don't get me started on VAR something else I won't miss.

Just turned 48. First game was friendly v Saarbrucken in 81/82. Sat in the Belvior Suite as my Grandad bagged Bentley Engineering's company season tickets. Sat with him and my Dad. Lineker hat-trick. Brought my Dad the programme for Fathers Day a few years ago.

Now I'm the Dad and the roles are reversed. My Son is Leicester thru and thru and my Dad is the Grandad and we take in what we can inbetween grass roots game at Steps 3-5. My youngest son will become a member for the 23-24 season. Watching it together as a family whilst we still can is all that matters.
