So it's £7-8 million up front and £2-3 add ons if we get promoted most likely?

Really not seeing that as an outrageous fee to be honest. He is 27, Spurs fans have good things to say about him on the whole and is generally considered to be a very good signing for this level.

Same can be said for Coady.

Thats big money in the Championship. If he flops then we've got him for 4 years and will get nothing back on him. It's essentially an extension of what's been happening in recent years on signings. All signings represent a risk but signing established players has been a shocking exercise for us in recent years and I'm nervous.

I hope it works out, his injury issues make that highly unlikely as Swagrave is a minefield.

Chair is completely different to Winks and Hamer would cost twice as much.

Chair as an Attacking mid with KDH and Choudhury behind him would be insane in the championship.

It is good to see us attempting to get business done early, and buying domestically, yes I know "But Vestergaard" but these sorts of deals are surely easier to get done, players don't need to settle in etc. We've had our fingers burned by expensive flops from the continent as well.

Fee seems high but I'll give him a chance. So much of this season is about mentality. I think we could put a talented team out there each week but they have to want it and work hard.

If Winks is committed and up for it then hopefully the quality will shine.

I think we will see movement when Maddison departs. He would be perfect to cheer fans up after a big departure. Contract on the table from Coventry, but we could easily treble it, so fingers crossed

If we pull this off and sign Hamer.. chant for the first game of the season:

”JUST SOLD YOUR STAR, TO ENZO MARES-CAR”

In the tune of the annoying we buy any car ad

I'm not really keen on this signing to be honest, but if Enzo sees something in Winks that I or others don't, then so be it.

the only thing with this is… does he?

We were interested in winks when brendan was here so clearly glover is the one who likes him

I think the Championship this season, is more exciting than the premier league. I mean Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton? Already added to a list of bang average teams outside of the top 10 clubs?

There’s two premier league winners in this league, and a host of sleeping giants. The quality will be lacking at times, but in terms of entertainment it should be good.

Im confident we will do well, I think the problem is last season was such a disaster, but it needs to be a lesson learnt before this there wasn’t much criticism levelled at the club, it’s only in the last 18 months that the wolves have descended upon the board room….

I wonder, had we managed a 12 place finish, what would the reaction be then?

It will be for us, because if we were in the Premier League, it would be another relegation battle, whereas on paper we should be seeing lots of wins and competing for something again. We should get that 15/16 feeling where we can't just take the draw but have to push for a winner. Man City had a bad start last season before turning it round, but not they have worked out a killer system, how is anyone stopping them? It looks like they are going to sign Gvrdiol which gives them a generational defender and generational attacker in the same team.

At the same time, I don't know about you, but there's a ton of coping going on in my head right now lol. Harry Winks and Connor Coady...? Jesus wept!

At least we hired Maresca to get us excited.

That interest was also before Glover was here

Maresca had just joined Man City as the Under 21 manager when Pep was supposedly interested in Winks

Maybe he spoke with Pep about why he liked him?

Think you're way wide of the mark there @Ric Flair

The "gamble" this summer on players like Winks and Coady, who will both be class at this level, is nothing like the way we were running the club before and the situation we got ourselves in.

I think a few signings like this with selling Premier League quality players the chance to get straight up with us and be established in a Premier League team (using Kasper, Morgan, Vardy, Drinkwater, Mahrez as the example to them players) is exactly the way we should go.

People are underestimating how big it is to get all those wages off the bill and the £40m. With the parachute payments, the players who've gone out of contract and the inevitable money from Maddison, Castagne etc we are in a superb position. We can afford to take calculated risks on a few signings to get us back straight away. Absolutely no doubt.

To be fair, I'm not certain and just going based on The Telegraph article: "Leicester manager Enzo Maresca believes midfielder can help promotion push"

Surely he could have been thrown in for a £4om + Winks for Maddison?

It's always difficult getting player exchanges as part of a deal done. I can see why they'd want it to be separate. Plus i don't think they'd have done that deal. The year left on Maddison's contract did us over and Tielemans scenario will be hanging over everyone at the club for a long time.

...I do wonder what the feedback was regarding Soumare!!!

The scouting assessment you would think would have been in-depth but I would bet it neglected to report his positioning and inability to read and sense danger, moreover cutting out passing lanes. You have to wonder just what information is relayed back to the club, and if it is also symptomatic, of our drop off of standards in regards to recruiting players.

...you would think Norwich would have gone to the courts regarding LCFC attempting to renege on a contractual agreement, we would surely lose the case!!!

I have no idea about Winks at present?

Has he been playing? Is he any good anymore?

I’ll regret asking this on here but does anyone actually know?

There is something pretty satisfying about his technique, passes with his right in particular have great technique. He will excel at this level, imo.

Choudhury was the best tackler in the championship last year. Just get him to do the 2019 Ndidi role where all he has to do is win it back and we can have Justin, Kristiansen and Ricardo bomb on.

it’s hard to tell really as often that’s just an easy headline when a club signs someone’s

I think it was percy’s article that stated our long standing interest and how we enquires for him last summer

Always preferred single match coverage of a player to highlights. Here he is this season just gone for Sampdoria (worst team in Serie A, finished bottom) vs a very decent Atalanta side. He will do very well at Championship level.
