Casadei will be joining the first-team in the United States, where Chelsea will play five games and he is expected to feature for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. But his future remains uncertain.

@Sambiasso

Sounds like he's in that squad?

And Brighton head there too, so maybe they'll work a deal...

Big indicator will be if he travels with the Chelsea squad, probably won't happen before we fly out to Thailand unless he gets left behind.

I was told it would be done early this week :dunno:

Any update on who the ‘one other’ is from the weekend?

seperate note, could be an agent link trying to drum up last minute prem interest before he signs for us?

the problem is that chelsea might use him

as leverage for the caicedo deal, similar too how they used colwill for cucurella.

with european football brighton will be able to offer plenty of minutes as well 😞

You just have to hope chelsea realise they shouldn’t strengthen them

I don’t mind us playing possession based as long as it’s done the right way and exciting. But, trying to compare ourselves like to like to Man City concerns me a bit. I.e, yeah Ricardo will be Walker and Doyle will be Ake etc. They are different players, less talented players.

But let's not forget that they'll be up against less talented players. They're not facing the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal like Man City do, so whilst our players aren't on the same level, they're still likely the top end of the level we're playing at, just like the mancs.

Maresca should be on the phone to him pronto, and give him the tour of Seagrave, should help...:D

If his agent is sensible  and the player himself he will realise he won't get much game time at Brighton or any premier league team, better off here, playing 40 plus games for his development.

This, he’s played 15 first team games. No matter his ability I think a season with us would do the kid wonders.

He should look at the game time that gilmour got at brighton last season - and that’s being their player and not a loan !

I know he did fantastic with Reading and in the U20 World Cup but he's 20 and only played 15 matches at senior level for Reading. He's not that young and only 15 senior games suggests he may become an excellent player but he's either a late developer or not a generational talent.

I'm biassed I know but I think for his development he'd be much better off here for a season rather than at Brighton in which he might become a bit part player in a very tough league. 15 games for Reading as your whole senior career suggests going to the Championship favourite who will probably have a lot of the ball is ideal for him.

Isn't De Zerbi good mates with Maresca, surely he can see his development will be better off with us than at Brighton?

That's like not having sex with the girl your mate really fancies that you see round the town when she comes on to you one night.

Never going to happen.

but he's mainly been based in Italy where, these days, being a young italian (apparently) makes it very difficult to get into a serie A team these days.

Which means he might not quite be ready to play as a starter in the PL if he can't make Chelsea's team now or Inter's before that. 20 isn't that young so if he was a generational talent he would probably already be on the scene.

His performances in the U20 World Cup suggests he has huge potential but he has done nothing of note in the man's game so far. He may well be better off here getting plenty of minutes and the ball at Championship level for a season rather than cameos at Brighton.

Could quite possibly be the case, he didn't set the league on fire last season so can't see him making a huge impact at Brighton.

Looks like he needs another year in the Championship before that step up.

I'll hopefully have an update tonight or tomorrow

Much appreciated as always:thumbup:

We've signed Doyle but can be difficult to loan youngsters from the big clubs during the first couple of weeks of pre season. A lot of the time they are making up numbers, I know Chelsea aren't exactly short but they've sold a few.

Agreed, be amazed if we signed him now. Same applies to other loan targets mentioned. Probably get them the week before the season starts.

Does it matter if he is on the plane? Im sure they can afford an economy ticket back if we work out a deal in a few more days.

This. If the deal gets down it gets done.

This deal is done. Agreement completed late today. The reason for him travelling to USA is due to the price in paper which is cheaper out there so contracts, paper work etc was cheaper and chelsea paying for his travel. The club clearly trying to save money wherever they can. Great move for the club, excited to see him play for city.

I also don't get why a big club would ever loan a player out early. They'll want to be taking a look at them and, for the big clubs, getting them to take advantage of their excellent facilities and coaching.

What would be the point of Seagrave if we sent youngsters out on season long loans on the first day of pre-season?
