Ric Flair Posted 14 July 2023 Posted 14 July 2023 Wouldn't surprise me if he ends up doing a Tom Huddlestone with Man Utd U21's.
woollett the bullet Posted 14 July 2023 Posted 14 July 2023 Living off his reputation from his United day's.Â
cropstonfox Posted 14 July 2023 Posted 14 July 2023 Matt Elliot. GOAT For me Followed closely by Huth, Wes, Walsh, and going back Graham Cross. Evans next best behind these. Colin Hill ,Sjoberg Woolett, Blockley, May All worth a mention. Thanks Johnny good but never a Champion.  1

Poor until Huth turned up and wasn't great whenever Huth didn't play. 2

He was instrumental when we won the championship. Huth came in and complemented Wes, they as a pair were excellent. Let’s not forget that Huth wasn’t tearing up trees before he came to us either. They allowed each other to play to each others strengths and as a unit led the defence perfectly when we won the league.  To suggest he only gets credit because he was the captain is ludicrous (for me). 6
Popular Post Sly Posted 14 July 2023 Popular Post Posted 14 July 2023 Simpson, Morgan, Huth and Fuchs worked as a unit. We encouraged people to throw balls into the box as we’d basically just pick up that 2nd ball and counter attack.  It was a genius tactic.  We struggled in 16/17 in fairness, as not only did we lose Kante, we also lost Huth through injuries at points.  Morgan and Huth weren’t bad players, however they were better together, than apart.  Evans technically was a better player, however let’s not pretend he’s been a great captain in the same role as an Elliott, Walsh, Morgan etc. Although the club had its best spell under him. He’s had some shockers as well, which is to be expected, considering his age and mobility.  It’s time for him to move on but he’s been great business for the money we paid.  Still won a bloody FA Cup as well though!  Best of luck Mr Evans!   6

Took about another 5 minutes before Huth realised what he was playing with and stopped passing the ball to Morgan and laid it off elsewhere. They were a perfect partnership but Huth was still outstanding when Wes wasn't playing, you couldn't say the same about Wes when Huth was missing.
v6rat Posted 14 July 2023 Posted 14 July 2023 (edited) We paid £3.5m for Evans and had good value for money for a couple of seasons, but because of his age and injuries, I doubt he's worth anything like £3.5m now, so end of contract move was always going to be his only option. Can't believe Everton are interested though unless they have absolutely no money to spend. Edited 15 July 2023 by v6rat

I love Wes and would never ever dismiss how good and how important he was to us. But I I agree with you in that I think Huth was a better player and probably the second best defender we’ve ever had in our history. 1

FoxyJim1987 Posted 14 July 2023 Posted 14 July 2023 Matt Elliott and Steve Walsh are the greatest centre backs (in my life time) Huth and Morgan closely behind them. Crucial goals in all of them mixed with no nonsense old school defending.  Evans, pretty classy but not in the same league as those 4. 3

Claudio Fannieri Posted 15 July 2023 Posted 15 July 2023 What makes me laugh the most about that video is the actual training drill, it’s something out of an U7’s warm up 😂 1
mozartfox Posted 15 July 2023 Posted 15 July 2023 He is still listed on the Club Web-site which strange as it has been updated for Doyle. Â If he is out of contract, why is he still listed? Give No.6 to Doyle.Â
