He didn't play once in January and then on the 1st of Feb he was back.

 

After the Liverpool match, once relegation was confirmed, he came back out and did a lap of honour on his own. I thought at the time whether that would be the last we see of him.

I don't begrudge him it either. Best off not risking getting stuck with us next season.

It would be a bit extreme to make him actually undergo surgery as a smokescreen for a transfer. Also I'm sure I read that somewhere that Chelsea aren't interested any more and are focusing on other targets...

Astonishingly that we’ve risked him making whatever the problem is worse when we had no chance of staying up several weeks ago.  Assume that the player wanted to carry on but it’s been clear that something wasn’t right with him since he came back.  He’s not made many amazing saves since his return.   At least it means he hasn’t damaged his value being meh since end jan.

Exactly this , be a bit diffrent if the lad had just feigned an injury but he’s actually had an operation .

Can't see the Chelsea move materialising. It seems like a sensible connection with Enzo but neither Enzo or KDH have gone down particularly well there. I think they'd be weary about taking a keeper from us who has spent a decent amount of time out and not shone upon returning.
